A source on the Rick Perry campaign tells Hot Air that the Texas governor conducted some Texas-size fundraising in the third quarter. Coming in just a little over halfway through, Perry raised $17.1 million. That number would put Perry somewhere between $4-6 million ahead of Mitt Romneys rumored total for Q3, according to this report last week from the Boston Globe. Its also likely to far outpace Herman Cains fundraising or that of the other Republicans currently in the race.
The pace is even more impressive. Perry had 49 days in which to raise funds, rather than the full 92 days of the quarter, a rate of about $349,000 a day. The final debate in September didnt hurt Perrys fundraising rate, either. In the 42 days prior to the Orlando debate, their rate was $323K per day; in the eight days following the Orlando debate, that escalated to $478K per day. Perrys on-line operation did well, too, drawing in $1.1 million despite, as my source says, not driving contributions with their on-line ads.
Best of all for the Perry campaign, the burn rate in the first seven weeks was negligible. The campaign has $15 million cash on hand from its $17.1 million haul. Team Perry wanted 18,000 contributors in this quarter, and finished with over 22,000. More than 60% of their contributors donated $250 or less, which means that they can keep going back to them for more money.
The message that Perrys campaign wants this report to send is that Perry isnt going away and that he can out-raise and out-organize the rest of the field. With Perry taking a big hit in polling, that message cant come at a better time. However, Perry will need a good debate performance next week in order to truly right the ship and regain some of the momentum lost in the polls.
This does prove to be a bit of a quandry. Where would Perry’s abilities best be served? With Texas, or with the rest of the country? If elected, will he put his foot down, and tell mexico to back off? Or will he cave in to special interests and lobbyists and give free reign to the mexican invasion? Too many question marks for a presidential candidate.
The feds don’t care. If you want to take care of the problem, you will have to take care of of it on your own, along with those who support you.
Oh, there are signs.
And he will use that Sharpie in his first day in office to repeal Obamacare.
AND, if you are Governor Perry, you run for president to correct the constraints and problems that you have experienced at the federal government's hands.
If you are Rick Perry, you forge ahead and try to save the whole country from what he has experienced as Governor.
Too many question marks for a presidential candidate??? Those are excellent questions. But they are questions you have to ask of every candidate. Those are not questions exclusively for Perry. What you have to do in asking those questions is to:
1. See how the candidate responds when asked those type of questions.
Perry has laid out a step-by-step plan to secure the border. BUT it can only be done with the Feds help. Now, either you think: I believe he will do what he says he will OR call him a liar. Those are your only two options.
2.you look at their record.
A multitude of people incuding myself have already posted on this thread the numerous things he is currently doing in his limited state power to secure the border. Rangers, 400 million in tax money etc etc.
At some point, when someone says repeatedly that they will do something and their record shows that they are doing everything in their power to get to that point, then you have to either believe them or call them a liar. That goes for any candidate, not just Perry.
Good, I’m glad to see that there are. I will getting one in that case.
There are bumper stickers, as well.
"Rick Perry made a bus stop at Fatz Cafe in Gaffney, SC. Talking about the 3 key components to getting America working again: Dont spend all the money. Keep taxes low and regulations fair. And invest aggressively in job creation, because good jobs make the American Dream possible." (www.rickperry.org)
Thank you for correcting me, madam :^)
It appears they are handing them out at his campaign stops. I’m not sure how to get one. Maybe you will get really lucky, and he will stop in your area.
Actually yes, I will be seeing him next week at a meet and greet in my town so hopefully they will.
On a side note, the baby in that pic is absolutely adorable. :)
What is the physical location of that fence in Texas?
It is in the rural area of South Texas approximately 10 miles WNW of the urban areas of the Rio Grande Valley.
