Sarah Palin mum on presidential ambitions during Iowa speech
Yahoo! News ^ | Alex Pappas

Posted on 09/03/2011 1:59:15 PM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Sarah Palin said it is important whom Republicans choose to run against President Obama, but didn’t directly address whether she’ll join the 2012 presidential race during her much-anticipated speech before a tea party crowd in Iowa on Saturday.

The former Republican governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee referenced the 2012 election many times throughout her remarks, calling out the “permanent political class,” “crony capitalism” and “entrenched political interests.”

Murdoch is paying Rasmussen to do whatever it takes to break Palin’s magic.

Others are paying their mouthpieces to do the same.

As I said,

Carling: big on the big lie, short on reading comprehension, and shorter on understanding the use of “polls.”

Murdoch is following the political standard of the last three decades: Push Polls to sway public opinion, by reversing the real numbers in their false polls.

Go back under your cabbage idiot.

You are accusing Murdoch of paying Scott Rasmussen so Ras will publish phony polls downplaying Palin’s chances.

I find that incredible and unbelievable. Give me a source, a link, or anything that validates your kooky theory. It's so far out in left field that I am just sitting here laughing at you for thinking up this conspiracy, and trying to pass it off as truth. Nutsville.

Palin just is not popular with the general electorate, and even hardcore FReepers like Hildy and I are finding her passive-aggressive approach to running as both hypocritical and divisive. My thought is that she would have already announced if her internal polling showed her she had a chance, and since the public polls aren't showing that, and I'm guessing her internal polls as well, she's going all-in on the goofy "outsider" slant as a last chance attempt at finding more than a rabid a loyal base.

I have been active here for ten years. Palin blew it the day she quit. She created an insurmountable negative vis a vis any national election.

Americans do not like quitters and regardless of what her freeper-acolytes want, that is what America will see, that she quit.

Her husband was confronted last month by a self-described Alaskan who said that she and others fely betrayed by the resignation. His answer..."go see the movie". That will not happen, not for that woman or for the 70,000,000 other American voters she would need to win.

She rendered herself unelectable.

Then she spent two years raking in the dough (fine but not especially solid credential building activity). Books, TV show(s), paid speeches, a start-and-stop bus tour, the dance of the seven veils...a handful of freepers see this as the work of a political genius...America sees something entirely different....they see an opportunist.

He really said "go see the movie"????

Wow. That's just so patronizing.

Yes, everybody, go see a one-sided propaganda movie in order to form your opinions of any candidate. I should read Dreams From My Father. I bet Obummer comes out as a real winner in that one. I wonder how George W. Bush comes out in F9/11? I never watched it, but I can guess the answer.

There is apparently an anti-Palin movie coming out as well. Should we all watch it as well? Or, should we watch Barry Soetero's "I killed OBL" movie next fall when it is released and believe it as well?

I find you incredibly naive and unbelieveble.

That is exactly the way all early “polling” has been done in the TV age.

Cogent people see through “polls” and look at more relevant data, like the candidates’ records.

Polling at best would yield to others your own decision making. Are you that hollow and gullible?

Running against your own party 3 years after being the VP for Mr. Establishment Juan McLame, and 1 year after campaigning for him in an AZ primary, surely re-writes the rules presidential politics.

Most people aren't going to buy it, and it seems like a last-chance attempt by Palin to re-invent herself.

If she runs, I'll be shocked, because she won't even win the GOP nomination. Being a two-time loser, and a quitter, at that point will start to end her $100k gravy train of speaking engagements. I do think that it's fabulous that she is making money on her name, though. That's capitalisim at its best, and I hope she becomes a billionaire who can start funding more qualified candidates of her choice.

So ... Palin won’t need the support of FReepers who simply don’t like these attacks on the announced candidates?

That’s not a winning primary strategy, IMO. Why is this small faction of FReepers trying to alienate those of us who haven’t backed a candidate, and just want to let things play out?

2ndDivisionVet is doing all he can to smear Rick Perry, to the length of posting student blogs from college websites. It’s ridiculous, and it will not work for Sarah Palin if she wants to win the GOP primaries.

My personal opinion is that she likes being a celebrity, and it’s more lucrative and less stressful than actually running for office.

Do you honestly believe that Palin supporters are the type of people who sit at their computers

Um, yeah, that's fairly obvious at this point. The "smear anyone not Palin" FR present is ugly, IMO, and won't help Palin if she does decide to run.

"...Being a two-time loser..."

Yes, she lost as the VP nominee in 2008 (mostly due to Team McCain and Obamamania) but what other loss has she experienced?

"Do you honestly believe that Palin supporters are the type of people who sit at their computers gaming online polls?"

Um, yeah, that's fairly obvious at this point.

Flunk. I gave you an opportunity to express yourself as an adult, but you chose to be a petulant child instead.

At least you're being consistent. Consistently deranged about Palin, that is.

Carling, it’s pretty obvious that you simply have an irrational dislike for Palin, and you’re never going to honestly weigh her positive attributes and accomplishments against what you perceive to be her deal-breakers.

Like every other Palin detractor around here, you magnify her alleged ‘sins’, and discount every good and decent thing about her. You totally ignore her many rare and admirable traits, because of a few demerits which pale in comparison to the rest of her excellent contributions as a public servant.

Not only that, you refuse to accept any logic or reason offered to you, concerning your disagreements with her. It’s as though you would suffer personal pain or anguish if you were to follow that logic and reasoning to its inescapable conclusion....she’s not what you claim she is.

So be it. Be right. Cling to that rightness and treasure it always. Just remember to stay far back from reality, or it will burst that precious bubble of yours.

Well we’ll see. A loose confederation of volunteers isn’t exactly a campaign infrastructure

You can discount O4P by calling them "a loose confederation of volunteers" if you like, but you're just whistling past the graveyard.

For instance, there's an O4P chapter in every county in Iowa. All 99 of them - and they are very well coordinated. Perhaps because you're not tuned into what Palin's volunteers are doing across the country, it's easy to dismiss what they're doing.

Fact is, Palin's got her campaign infrastructure pre-built, and ready to spring into action upon notice from her. I'll tell you another thing....on the day that she announces, O4P is going to be swamped with donations and new volunteers. Trust me, it's going to take everyone by surprise.

From Wikipedia;

["In 2002, Palin ran for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor, coming in second to Loren Leman in a five-way Republican primary.

[67] Following her defeat, she campaigned throughout the state for the nominated Republican governor-lieutenant governor ticket of Frank Murkowski and Leman.

[68] Murkowski and Leman won, Murkowski resigned from his long-held U.S. Senate seat in December 2002 to assume the governorship.

Palin was said to be on the "short list" of possible appointees to Murkowski's U.S. Senate seat,[68] but Murkowski ultimately appointed his daughter, State Representative Lisa Murkowski, as his successor in the Senate.[69"]

This explains her reason for political "pay-back" against the Murkowski's. It also explains her animosity towards the Republican establishment in Alaska and why she went after Republicans and sided in a joint effort with Democrats to take down those who she saw as her enemies. (Her own Party)

Palin was correct in what she said about Revere’s ride, though. His own account of the ride prove Palin was correct.
