URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) Sarah Palin is making a surprise appearance at a suburban Des Moines restaurant.
And she was greeted there Friday night with chants of "Run, Sarah, run!"
Hundreds of fans jammed into the Iowa Machine Shed, with the backroom of the farm-themed restaurant overflowing, as people from as far away as Texas, Florida and California strained for a glimpse of the former Alaska governor....

You know everyone says she’s too polarizing. But all we have when we lose is a McCain or some other milquetoast RINO. Obama is polarizing and he won. Maybe polarizing is what we need to see a clear contrast. Appealing to the squishy middle doesn’t see to work very well for us. The last landslide we had was with Reagan...also too polarizing to win.

The AP sure seems to be pushing Palin tonight and her grass roots surprise rally.
Why is that, do you think?
Man that is transparent.
Let's ask a better question:
Why do you think all of the media, conservative and liberal are pushing Rick Perry?
To: Springfield Reformer
...when someone comes along who has both the policy and the personality required to be a champion for freedom, yes, freedom-loving people will take notice, because as important as policy is, you can't elect a policy to office. You always elect a person. Wonderful post, SR. You put eloquence to the thoughts that all Palin supporters share. Thank you again.

Palin knows Iowa’s favorite Texan remains... Hayden Fry. Who BTW probably still gets tiny royalties from that Tiger Hawk on her shirt. Iowa record for “best performance in the rain” was set by Chuck Long when his Fry coached team clobbered Texas 55-17 in the 1984 Freedom Bowl. The game was played in a torrential rainstorm, as might be the case for Sarah’s speech Saturday. The fans and the Longhorns sure noticed the storm, but Long and the Hawkeyes played like it was a perfect spring day. Long threw six TD passes that day, IIRC the most that had ever been thrown in any bowl game ever at that time against a Longhorn team that most had predicted would win easily. Chuck’s record may be at risk tomorrow, similarly overconfident Texans beware.

THAT’S what this is about for you, isn’t it?
I forgot how much you love to gamble — love the sight of the casinos across the river from your balcony and all.
You must have a lot riding on $arah losing.
OK. All makes sense now.
No wonder you’re “praying” she stays out!

But I thought no one likes her?

Palin didn't even serve out her entire term as governor in Alaska. This "Cult of Sarah" phenonenom on FR is getting bizarre to me as someone who just wants to beat Obama.
No, like most GOP First, Conservatism second posters and Republicans, it would appear your real concern is the flawed approach of getting someboy elected you feel won't offend too many people.
The same GOP Establishment types fought Reagan for the same reasons as hard as they could. They lost then, and you and your ilk will lose this time as well, for your just as wrong now as they were then.

Seems to me the AP is reporting on this “spur of the moment” Palin “surprise” visit to a restaurant.
Of course, a few FReepers in this thread have already said they were there. Wow, what a coincidence!!

[Yeah, thats what a cult of personality is all about. Thanks for defining it for me.]
Stick it in your ear. My craw is filled with a lifetime of the country club GOPer personality cult which forces people to fall in line with some tired out old geezer who paid off the good old boys. I’m not a new kid to the dance, if I am heavy behind Palin at this point, it is because I’ve weighed the other options based on policy and demeanor and found them wanting, not because I get star struck. I’ve been around billionaires, entertainers, politicians and powerful people, so I am not easily swayed.
Go take your sour grapes elsewhere, if you are supporting a candidate who doesn’t generate the enthusiasm Palin does, that’s your problem. Go back to your personality cult for country club losers.

DaxtonBrown said: Not really, a lot of us have either met her, or her family. I got to buy her dad and brother a beer once and talked to her mom as well. There is zero evidence that any of these people are less than genuine.
So I wouldnt call it a cult of personalty. More like a lot of us are very comfortable with what we know we will get. Cant say that for the other candidates, though I would be ok voting for a handful.
Carling said: Yeah, thats what a cult of personality is all about. Thanks for defining it for me.
Like I said before, pure, unmitigated extreme hyperbole Carling.
Not an ounce of common sense in that post.

Sounds like a few here could benefit from going over to Dish Network or Direct TV or cable pay per view and ordering up The Undefeated. They don't want to be confused by facts -- their minds are already made up.

It’s funny how those who love to run on about “a cult of personality”, themselves do the same in support of their own candidates.

Heard that when the LSM got the word she was there, they tried to buck the line outside to get in.
