URBANDALE, Iowa (AP) — Sarah Palin is making a surprise appearance at a suburban Des Moines restaurant.

And she was greeted there Friday night with chants of "Run, Sarah, run!"

Hundreds of fans jammed into the Iowa Machine Shed, with the backroom of the farm-themed restaurant overflowing, as people from as far away as Texas, Florida and California strained for a glimpse of the former Alaska governor....

comparing Palin supporters to Obama supporters

The motivations of the two groups are polar opposites. Independent-minded freedom lovers versus Entitlement drones. Entitlement drones are naturally susceptible to cults of personality, because the proposed pseudo-messiah promises them a pseudo-utopia, the mega-personality is there to absorb them and thereby relieve them of the difficulties of being independent persons on their own. That's who fell for Obama.

Whereas independent-minded freedom lovers are not looking to get something from government, least of all a sense of self. Rather, they are looking for government to get out of their way, and let them succeed or fail on their own, as themselves. These people are not easily seduced by cults of personality, because their own personality is so strong, and in the end they will never settle for anything less than freedom.

But when someone comes along who has both the policy and the personality required to be a champion for freedom, yes, freedom-loving people will take notice, because as important as policy is, you can't elect a policy to office. You always elect a person

Do they keep their promises? Do they have a history that demonstrates character, tested in the refiner's fire and emerging like twice-hardened steel? Do they demonstrate the intelligence, purpose, and determination required to lead the greatest, most powerful country on earth? Do they love their country more than they love their own life? I can't speak for others, but I want that in a President. All of it. Because remaining free requires it.

And any one of the Republican candidates has one or more of these attributes, and would serve reasonably well in one or more dimensions of the job. But it's an employer’s market, even for the open position at White House, and if we are presented with someone who has all those qualities, combined in one person, and has the conservative policies to match, why would we not, with enthusiasm, seriously consider hiring that person for the job?

Some just can’t get it that crying out “Run Sarah run” isn’t a celebrity’s call...it’s a call to run for Pres....what part of that chant don’t they understand?

Exactly, there is no reason to have a Turd Party, when she wins the Republican Party will officially become the Tea Party.

Pray for America

And they don't seem to be able to deal with or abide (without resentment) someone who goes against their old time format and type in all ways .. from total operational tactics to their chosen selected campaign team to the very nerve of going solo without them.

That's because by doing so, she messes with their ability to manipulate and control the outcome.

This is what is most important to them, and it's not because they believe in the same things you and I do, Individual rights and freedoms, limited government, and all things conservative in nature.

They don't believe in these things, oh they will parrot our words as much as they think they have to to get our votes, but when it comes down to crunch time, you see who they really are (See Boehner the Surrender Monkey for a good example).

She made a ‘surprise’ stop at a C4P gathering. The way these things usually work is that the C4P organizers will tell members that there’s a ‘possibility’ SP will stop by, so of COURSE they are going to go, and of COURSE they are going to chant “Run, Sarah, Run,” and of COURSE they will vote for her if she runs in the caucus and general. This was NOT a random gathering.

With her celebrity status, anyplace she goes, people will get excited and crane their necks and want to shake her hand, etc., but THAT reaction in a random crowd would not so readily translate into the folks voting for her. That, I believe, is the point Hildy was trying to get at. Hell, I’ve seen people who wouldn’t vote for Obama to save their first-born’s life go into a tizzy if he was around. Celebrity does that to people.

I can tell you this, having personally been there tonight, and having been to numerous rallies (Both Freeper Crawdord rallies and the porkulous protest in DC to name a few) I have never seen a ruckus like I witnessed this evening. The air was electric. Just plain and simple. It felt like the world was alive again. I am too young to remember what events with Regan would have been like, but tonight is how I’ve always imagined them, and she Sid nothing but walk in, take pictures, shake hands, and walk out.

Our table was unfortunately one of the last to be waited on, and the manager came over to apologize. He said they have had 6 of these “events” and NONE of them have had this kind of response or crowd.

This nonsense that she has no staying power and is unelectable is complete political posturing.

She has it like no other out there. She’s a total darkhorse riding in the sunlight, and if she announces, the nomination is her’s as is the presidency...
