Shep just said they had to inspect all the subway lines before resuming service. That makes sense, but he added that it could only be done during the day. Any particular reason for that?

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Oxford County in western Maine...
Coos County in northern New Hampshire...
Carroll County in northern New Hampshire...
Grafton County in northern New Hampshire...

rises of small rivers and streams across northern New Hampshire and
adjacent western Maine. Doppler radar estimated that 4 to 8 inches

White Mountains of New Hampshire.

This extreme rainfall has caused life threatening flash flooding in

the larger rivers. Flooding will be locally severe. Road closures

Hi there GreatPer!

LOLOL! Not 1/4 of the total space, but 1/4 of the FLOOR AREA had seepage. 3/4 of the floor was totally dry! I’m not sure that the pump we have, will even be able to work well without sweeping the water toward it.

So how did you do in your neck of the woods? I have a son in Ashburn VA, and he did just fine. A daughter in Baltmore, but the apt. tower she lives in never even lost power.

For those who live in this mid NE part of the country, and those who experienced tornados first hand, can now say yhat they had an earthquake, a hurricane and a tornado within 2 weeks! Actually I’ll take a hurricane over any of the other two. I couldn’t sleep last night just because there were tornado warnings in the area, and with the power out -— how can you see one coming!?

Yardley may get power soon according to scuttlebut. In Washington Crossing may be a week to two weeks, as PECO has to have new transformers shipped in, also according to scuttlebut.

“If Bush had done that in 2005, the media and the Left would have screamed bloody murder. Nauti-nurse and anyone who followed the Katrina live threads knows that it was Clinton’s former head of FEMA who advised Gov Blanco not to request Federal participation for one very bad extra day. And that was done specifically so that President Bush could not be seen to be “in charge.”

I also remember Hillary calling Blanco tellling her not to do anything until she, Hillary, got there. Hillary arrived — held a news conference, (oh, ya Gov. Blanco was there sic), AND blasted President Bush for not responding.

That was when I lost what little respect I had left for the media -—

I will be so glad when this thing is over. Woman in New Scotland where one of my daughters lives was killed in rising creek waters and ongoing current situation in Granville, NY where a woman’s car has been swallowed up by water and they are frantically searching for her. Very long day.

It actually depends upon where on the Island one is. Some places it was well beyond 3’ others places that was about right. Of course most of the causeway had been covered in water and was impassable.

The place where I was slogging in ankle deep water is at least a mile the channel and at least 2 miles on the other side from where the tidal marsh begins.

And therein lies the issue about some of the surges - the tidal marshes. On road we were on where the water had all receded, it was easy to see how far it had come up and across the road and kept going for another 10 or so feet.

Another place where the water came rushing into town and across main street was near the Coast Guard station.

I hope all of this makes sense. the geography and topography of the Island is such that it is difficult for someone like me to explain it to someone not familiar with the Island itself. heck I still have difficulty with n/s/e/w just because of the lay of the land, and I practically live there :)

Power finally came back on here at my house about 10 minutes ago. Driveway is good only 2 smallish branches in the way of the truck. Minimal washout of the driveway. Thanks for the thread NN!
