Bachman bests Paul. Pawlenty third. Romney fourth. Works for me!
This straw poll business is meaningless. Just over 16,000 “voters” many of whom are probably from out of state is not significant except it provides the MSM with step-one in the give-Republicans-a-proven-RINO-loser process. Step two will come early next year, in the dead of an Iowa winter, with the caucuses. In a sane world, this would not even be a blip on the radar of serious candidates.
What we all should realize —especially those who like to threaten to stay at home if their particular brand of kook isn’t nominated — is that we will not survive another Obama term, and we MUST vote for the (R) opponent. Even if it hurts, and it most likely will.
Don’t write Mitt off! He showed McCotter a thing or two. Hehehehehehehe

Thanks, I guess, but you're 100% wrong. Perry is not the new Romney.
The MSM, in case you're not watching CNN, is reporting Perry as Barry Goldwater times Attila the Hun. MSNBC thinks he's got horns and cloven hoofs.
He's GOP establishment in that he's the senior governor in the country of one of the largest states in the Union. That's 'establishment' by definition at that point. It would be disingenuous to claim 'outsider' status when you're a pillar of the party. Once Mitt falls (insha'allah), the support of the other big players and big donors will have to go somewhere. Every candidate out there, insurgent or beltway, is hoping for the big donor support that is begrudgingly supporting Romney. Yeah, I know the system sucks, but we can't pretend it doesn't exist or that is can be ignored.
Does Perry have some black marks on his record? Sure. He's got a couple of issues I take real exception to, but overall, he's a solid social conservative who ran his state well, good on guns and pro life. The only people with no black marks on their records are people with exceptionally short ones. Anyone with a decade long record in the big leagues will have black marks. Obama supporters are learning that now. Being ideologically pure doesn't mean you can deliver better than the sellout who knows how to play the game.
Comparing him to Mitt Hologramney is simply not reasonable.
Most libertarians are liberals, to most conservatives.
The Paulistinians are libertarians and anarchists. They will be back to their 2% when the election comes around.

The good news is this gives her clout in DC which will come in handy during the debt battles.

I don’t think Sarah is running. Over at Red State, they quoted her as saying she had to make a decision soon, to allow her supporters to get on board (if she runs), or cast their lot with someone else (if she doesn’t). Not exactly a “no,” but hardly the words of someone who’s preparing to run.
Your comment about Sarah waiting too long is spot-on. The entry of Michelle Bachmann eroded some of her potential support, and Rick Perry’s candidacy will take away more supporters and donors. Her window of opportunity is just about shut, and I just don’t see her jumping in at the last moment. I think she’s far happier being a king-maker in GOP politics and earning some serious money from the speech circuit and her gig at Fox.
I think the real question is what happens to Sarah Palin if she passes on 2012 and a Republican wins the White House. Does she give up politics entirely, or wait for the next Senate election in Alaska. If she doesn’t run in 2012, I’d love to see her “retire” Lisa Murkowski, but that wouldn’t be until 2016.
Give it a week. Fox first, then CNN and WaPo. The rest will settle for nothing less than Karl Marx himself. What happens here on FR is anyone’s guess. Fact is, Bachman won. I’ll take that as a victory, and as I said before, your analysis was spot on. Don’t let my personal opinion distract from that. Isn’t that what forums are for?
Let’s remember, Romney didn’t even campaign in Iowa.
The car salesman isn’t dead yet, by a long shot.
These results were pretty much expected for those paying even half attention.
Let Bachmann get the rath of moonbat nation.

Oh thou of such great intellect trying not to offend one of the little people huh? I have no idea if she will be the one given the GOP nod, but I tell you this, if a marxist know-nothing man child, with no record, who used legal manuvering to get his only senate election win whose background is disgusting in politics, hateful against america can get elected to the office, Bachman can...but wait...why not help the other siude...keep up the negative BS of yours so the polling agencies whose job it is to make public opinion for the left can simply repeat what YOU say over and over and over and make it come true.
Truth is, she can win, you have no desire to see her try. Me? I don’t know fully yet who I want but I tell you this, she gets the nod...she wins. Enjoy the reality of the current political condition.
Actually, this will give her a boost, as will Perry jumping in. The Dems will shift their focus to Perry and leave Bachmann alone. That bodes very well for Michele.
Go get ‘em, Michele!
Good point.
