Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will appoint Democratic Sens. Patty Murray of Washington, Max Baucus of Montana, and John Kerry of Massachusetts to the new super committee tasked with finding $1.2 trillion in additional deficit reduction by November 23, according to a senior Democratic aide familiar with Reid’s decision, which is expected to be made public as early as Wednesday.
Additionally, Murray is expected to co-chair the committee, officially named the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, along with a still unnamed House Republican. A spokesman for Reid did not respond to a request for comment.
Reid’s decision to tap Murray will likely be met with scrutiny, as she is also chairing the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee for the 2012 election cycle. But she is also a member of leadership, a senior member of the Budget Committee, and a woman on what is likely to be a male-dominated committee.

I wonder if the Swift Boat Veterans and POW's for Truth will come out of retirement to castigate Reid for Kerry's selection to this committee.

The people who agreed to this "deal" will find that 1) it is no deal, 2) That they will be part of the group that has to go in 2012, and 3) that our national security will be hurt terribly as long as this abomination is allwed to stand.
If they do not find the cuts, the cuts will come down automatically and a huge part of it will be on the military. IOW< it gives the dems what they want anyway...leaving the largest cuts on the military and not their pet social programs through which they pay off their supporters, and further enslave Americans and trap them in a sick circle of voting for those who give them a hand out which destroys their initiative and makes them dependent on these warped politicians.
These dems will have very little reason to come to a deal with the Republicans on the committee who are very likely to push for real cuts...meaningful cuts in the size and scope of government and its out of control spending, which is exactly what must happen to end this madness.
It will now be left to the incoming congress in 2013 to straighten this out...God grant that we turn these other vipers and career pols, and rascals out, wholesale.

They are going to squash any progress on real cuts to force it to the across the board cuts option which will especially decimate the military. It’s their wet dream to see America disarmed so here’s their chance.
