CNBC just broke in and told the audience that the President has requested airtime and will speak to the nation at 1300hrs EST (12 noon central, 10 AM PST) on the US national debt downgrade.

Fine, let Obama and his allies say that. The Tea Party and Republican party can answer with, “okay, lets cut 6 trillion more” - the Ryan Budget is ready to go, all the Senate has to do is pass it and send it to the White House. The Democrats will never agree to any real cuts of course, which will put the lie to their talking point.
