Texas Gov. Rick Perry : Is 2012 GOP Presidential Nod His for the Taking?
International Business Times ^ | Aug. 5, 2011 | Elisha Maldonado

Posted on 08/05/2011 8:58:07 AM PDT by Clairity

Despite having not yet announced his candidacy, many are seemingly already considering Texas Gov. Rick Perry as the man with the best chance to defeat President Barack Obama in 2012.

Under his stewardship, Perry has created more jobs than any other state in the country in recent years. The Dallas Federal Reserve estimated that all of the jobs created in the country in the two years from April 2009, a low of 37 percent (2009) to high off 48 percent (recently) were created in Texas.

Perry also supplies substance-starved citizens with a deep-rooted belief system. From the surface, his deepest views have not changed much since his early days in a cotton-farming community in Paint Creek in the 1950s.

"We believed in God, we believed in taking care of ourselves and one another, and we believed that America was the greatest nation on earth," he wrote in the preface to "Fed Up," the book he wrote last year.

Ah, a good fifth grade tactic. The difference is that palin's(™) actions over the past two years give every evidence of a financial motive driving them. that's too much for you to handle so you resort to ugly childishness.

No surprise.

Add to that, that she should make money; good for her but why are they playing campaign manager for her and pretend to be in the know of what she is thinking or doing? It is pathetic and divides and let’s Obama conquer.

"Perry, who told the Des Moines Register in recent days that God may be calling him to run for president, has long said Washington has not deployed enough manpower to the Texas-Mexico border."

Well, well!!! What do we have here!!! Another PROPHET in the making?

Where has Perry been on this issue, anyway? Has he been asleep while the border has invasions of illegals pouring in?

Does this mean that every border state governor has to be President to keep their state safe?

Ask him if he prefers Romney or Obama, rather than Perry.

Romney will get the GOP nomination if Perry won’t get in, and Obama will beat Romney, and get a 2nd term. Ask him if he prefers this scenario, rather than Perry getting the GOP nomination and defeating Obama.

They learned nothing after Fred Thompson lead them by the nose, than laughed at them, when McCain got the nomination.

I see no reason to forego the election cycle, but I do think that the too many conservatives in the running has the effect of dividing up the support and making Romney appear to be running better than he actually is. And media perception is a huge issue.

Doesn't that just anger you, xzins? I mean you'd think that WE would know better than to even entertain the thought of the lamestream media deciding who OUR nominee should/could be.

Apparently not, I suppose.

I agree that a lot of Texans seem to hate him. I remember that I, myself, got irritated with him during the Arizona immigration issue. Skipping ahead a year or two, it appears he was right. I thought Gardasil was an over-blown pile of garbage. Keep in mind, local Texas media is just about as tainted as the national media. They’re going to run negative stories on him. I think once his Texas record becomes public and people (including Texans) see what he has truly done, a lot of this skepticism will fade. People will sign on and get behind him. It appears from the circles of people I talk with, his naysayers are a more vocal group. His supporters are quiet, but also larger in number. Just wait to see if he announces. Things will change in a hurry (for the positive.) One last thing...to prove up my theory, Texans re-elected him. That means that resourceful conservatives have faith in him. Bill White or Medina could’ve easily drum up the numbers to defeat him. I think this same population will get behind him on a national scale.

You sound like a reasonable man. I’ll take your opinion into consideration. One of biggest concerns is the democrats will paint him as “Another George Bush” because he’s governor of Texas. How do we handle that?

That is a serious issue for him, maybe the worst. And not much he can do about it. Best answer I have for you is this...

I think if he gets into the race and people see him, take him in, listen to him, he's going to be a natural to sway people to his side. You may disagree with me, but this man walks onto a stage and "screams" presidential. I know that may sound simplistic and weak, but that quality by itself can be compelling. He has that about him, in a HUGE way. Just wait and see how people respond to him. I also think he comes off more intelligent and polished than Bush. Like someone said, Romney + BBQ sauce = Perry. LOL I know that's an insult, but I sorta like it myself.

The fact that she is making money does not show that it is her only motive, that assumption, you make entirely of whole cloth.

So what? Did you see all of the Bush interviews when he released his book. He is a man of character and will go down in history as a fine President with one of the top best first lady’s. Only fault of Dubya’s is he did not fight the Alinsky smears in the end because he was leaving politics. So they went on awhile. But all of that has been rectified. See my screen name and the water boarding helped get bin laden. The media will try this tactic you’re correct but with Perry it will last 5 seconds. They would smear Jeb Bush like this as well but I saw a lot of recent interviews and he is a top notch intelligent man.

Why does your sig quote say you are Sarah Palin. That is not even remotely funny.

--------------------------------

Stop making things up.

1. I did not write that making money is her only motive.

2. When something is said to be 'made from whole cloth' it means that it is utterly without factual foundation.

I submit that given the fact that Palin(™) has, since quitting, devoted the lion's share of her energies to...

Two book sales ($$$)

Two TV gigs ($$$)

Paid speeches ($$$)

Trademarking her brand (strictly a market driven move)...

it is more than accurate to state that personal enrichment of the financial kind is very high, if not primary on her list of motives.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this and I applaud her dedication to success in the marketplace but there is no way to interpret (honestly at least) that her post-quitting energies have been expended more in pursuit of public service than in the pursuit of personal wealth.

Each time they do a “job approval” poll on Obama that shows close to half of the nation thinking he’s doing a good job, I realize where they are getting their info. With all the choices for news available, apparently half the nation still tunes in to the alphabet 6 pm network and cable democratic talking heads.

And then they do as they’re told.

I can’t believe these headlines

Rick Perry’s faith rally causes stir in Texas...
‘Prayer, for a nation in crisis’...
Will give brief remarks, read scripture...

Tx says prayers at the beginnings of rodeo’s why would anyone care that Perry is praying for our country or reading scripture? Obama can go to ramadan why can’t Perry read scripture?
