Also, when he makes a film he is putting himself out there as much as he is putting his work out there. The ‘voice of God’ narration he uses is reminiscent of a diary entry and he often reflects on events directly to the audience. This is also somewhat rare within the genre of documentary as he is drawing judgement and prompting the audience to do the same, without presenting the topic in an entirely subjective manner. This original style is another reason as to why he is considered to be well known and controversial.
