Since its inception in 2002,the Department of Homeland Security has grown increasingly contemptuous of the rights of the American people. Indeed,the Gestapo-like tactics of one of the Department’s better known masters of overreach–the TSA–are responsible for countless examples of the organizations daily assault on the Constitution.
But recently,another of Janet Napolitano’s handmaidens of harassment has begun to make news…albeit only on the web,of course. It is the TSA’s Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response task force–or VIPR. Organized into mobile swat teams,VIPR has executed some 8,000 highly public searches in the past 12 months.
And what meaningful operations they have been.
In a Georgia Amtrac station,VIPR personnel “patted down”all travelers,children and adults,both entering AND LEAVING the station.
In Santa Fe,New Mexico,teams of VIPR agents were assigned to conduct searches at a high school prom.
In Texas,agents thoroughly “…searched all private and commercial vehicles entering and exiting…”the port of Brownsville. EACH AND EVERY VEHICLE was searched even though the task force was not responding to any known or reported threat!
In April,VIPR staged a raid at a Tampa bus station. Once again,the teams were not responding to any particular threat. Rather,Homeland Security official Gary Milano said the purpose of the exercise was to “…invent the wheel in advance,in case we have to,if there is ever specific intelligence requiring us to be here.”
And two months later,VIPR targeted 5,000 square miles bordering West Virginia,Ohio and Kentucky. Four hundred agents representing 70 federal agencies appeared in Black Hawk helicopters,small planes and Coast Guard craft. Once again this was a “training exercise.”As usual,no threat had been suspected or reported. TSA official Michael Cleveland stated,“…the purpose of the exercise was to have a visible presence and let people know we’re out here. IT CAN BE A DETERRENT.”
But who is being deterred,intimidated and threatened by these unnecessary shows of force- certainly not terrorists.
“Uncontrolled search and seizure is one of the first and most effective weapons in the arsenal of every arbitrary government…Among deprivations of rights,none is so effective in cowing a population,crushing the spirit of the individual and putting terror in every heart”,said Justice Robert Jackson,the chief US prosecutor at Nuremberg.
The American people are being systematically subjected to,and desensitized to,warrantless searches and the most egregious and unnecessary forms of personal humiliation by an organization whose raison d’etre is inscribed at the TSA Air Marshall Training Center:DOMINATE,INTIMIDATE,CONTROL. And the more often this is done,the more “reasonable”it will seem. Routine? Acceptable? Like 10% unemployment,government harassment will become the “new norm.”After all,it is for our own good!
One has to wonder if Barack Obama isn’t grateful to Muslim terrorists for the 9/11 attacks. After all,without those 3,000 murders,how could a would-be dictator justify the Constitutional abuse to which he is subjecting millions of American citizens? Makes it easier somehow to understand his bow to the King of Saudi Arabia,doesn’t it!

Expand Posse Comitatus to include ALL armed federal law enforcement personnel, and define WHERE each may go.
The individual states may then choose to either search or not search everywhere else.

(BTW - I heard an interesting theory that the States’ National Guard troops are deliberately being kept out of the country, FAR AWAY, under the President’s control, deliberately in order to ensure that no states can resist the federal government when TSHTF.)
Good luck with that in a Congress determined to increase Federal powers in the name of fighting terror.
Look. We have 2 threats to our freedom. One is immediate, the other is long term. Neither has to do with terrorism.
Obama is the immediate threat. Congress is deadlocked, leaving Obama with little to stop his Marxist aims. But if we lock the Federal purse (debt ceiling) until Jan. 2013, Obama will have no money to further his goals & get reelected.
The second threat is Congress. They keep passing laws that flaunt the Constitution & steal our money & freedoms. That problem will be solved in Nov. 2012 when the TEA Party & Conservatives assume the majority in the House & Senate. The ruling class will be neutered at that point.
Until then, the less the current Congress & Obama get done, the better off this country will be. We are being led by thieves, liars, cheats, & perverts. These people are unwilling & incapable of doing what is right for America. I'd rather they do nothing for 16 more months than continue to ruin this country. Cutting off the money NOW is the surest way to do that, & it is the surest way of denying Obama a second term.
I predict this, & you can hold me to it: If the debt ceiling is increased to cover spending until the 2012 election, not only will Obama be reelected, but Reid, Pelosi, McConnell, & Boehner will retain their leadership positions, & the spending will continue until the USA is in unavoidable default, sometime before 2017. I guarantee it!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about governmental agency acronyms that spell words, it’s to be very wary.
Who’s going to round up this bunch when they exceed their authority? You know it’s inevitable. Arguably, they already have, right out of the gate.

Last year, we were staying at a hotel in Gettysburg (a 90-min. drive from DC) during the off-season where the VIPR was having an extensive meeting and VIPR personnel filled the hotel. Folks, I had never heard of this agency. You would not believe the gorgeous fleets of brand-new SUVs and pick-ups these government employees drive. They filled the parking lot. There was not a smile on the faces of any of these men (mostly-very few women) even though I have a bunch of cute little kids who were awed by their uniforms and equipment. It was SCARY to me, very chilling.

They allow it because they want it. They want it because they are afraid. They are afraid because of what is now obvious. They are our oppressors.
What you are saying has very serious repercussions for the citizens of the USA. There is the factor that citizens under the guise of government are being pitted against citizens who just want to have normal activities. I think of the photos of the rise of Nazis and Hitler in Germany. However. the more dangerous and fundamental thing in a society is when the citizens themselves do not see and have no remorse about using or being part of the power of government to badger and even hurt others. This is not crime remedy but government strong arming it’s citizens. If our elected officials, leaving out those condoning such acts of government, would get serious about what is happening they should act now.

I can count at least two members of congress who would shut these cretins down, in a heartbeat. That's 483 against 2. But hey, they are "kooks", anyway.
The way I see it, with those odds, we have 2 options.
1. go down like General Custer
2. surrender
The odds are the Tea Party will be our last gasp at free air. . Since our master's overseers will infiltrate it, disrupt it, corrupt it, demonize it, and finally, disband it. No doubt, they are already on it.
hunh. No sooner do I post something about “we’re not at the stage where we have brownshirts yet” than I learn about this unbelievably totalitarian feature of Hope and Change.
There is always a reason for what the feds do. Why the many Governors allow their guardsmen/women to be deployed internationally, is the question. Especially since the world is not (officially) at war, where Congress has not declared war, and where only "contingencies abroad exist."
