Three days after the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the national unemployment rate had ticked up from 9.1 percent in May to 9.2 percent in June, President Barack Obama said that the loss of jobs in the public sector is evidence that his $830-billion economic stimulus legislation worked.
Now, without relitigating the past, Im absolutely convinced, and the vast majority of economists are convinced, that the steps we took in the Recovery Act saved millions of people their jobs or created a whole bunch of jobs, Obama said at his Monday press conference.
And part of the evidence of that is as you see what happens with the Recovery Act phasing out, he said. When I came into office and budgets were hemorrhaging at the state level, part of the Recovery Act was giving states help so they wouldnt have to lay off teachers, police officers, firefighters. As weve seen that federal support for states diminish, youve seen the biggest job losses in the public sector--teachers, police officers, firefighters losing their jobs.
President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on Feb. 17 2009. His top economic adviser, Christina Romer, had reported that the act would prevent the national unemployment rate from reaching 8 percent. Initially, the Congressional Budget Office estimated the act would cost $787 billion. CBO now estimates it cost $830 billion.
There is no unemployment problem in America!
For some reason today, every response that’s come to mind to a Hussein thread has been the same, “*#$&%$#@&.”
The audacity of hype (and arrogance) from our delusional, Marxist, America-hating ‘president’.
Zero truly lives in an alternate universe of his own creation.
Obammaworld has now replaced Bizarroworld as the strangest, most twisted place in the universe.
Perfect! Now the “brilliant orator” says we must “eat our peas”....
I'm telling you...This guy is on drugs.
I hear that the US actually lost jobs in June but that the gov revised downward the number of jobs existing in May on their books and made it look like some were created.
Who’s gonna replace Goolsbee?
He’s said he’s leaving for Chitown.
I think this is econ czar #4 or 5.
Baraq changes economists faster than the Det Lions change head coaches.
A whole bunch...
I count about 43...
If you're posting stuff from The Onion you have to state it somewhere......
We borrowed money to pay government salaries. Some plan.
Thank’s Scott. I needed a new tagline.
Hope you don’t mind the modifications.
Oh yeah, I've seen/heard this before...
"It became necessary to destroy the village in order to save it."
WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
I wish I was.......
Stimulus funds -—>Govt Salaries-—>Union dues-—>Dem donations
and repeat
In other words, it will be necessary to bankrupt the country in order to save it.
Yeah, that’ll work!

“a WHOLE BUNCH of jobs”...
His mode of expression (6 year old level) seems to surpass his ability to comprehend basic math.
To expect him to understand simple economics would be asking too much of his “pea” brain. Someone needs to stick a bandaid over his mouth.
Cooking the books!
