I agree with Obama this time - except that I don’t think it was a good thing.
The stimulus money did enable States to hang onto or hire employees they couldn’t otherwise afford. That’s what they used it for. But it couldn’t last forever, so it just delayed the inevitable layoffs we’re seeing now.
Might have been better if they were forced to deal with reality sooner.

The only thing it proved is that the stimulus funds did NOT stimulate the economy. It only maintained some bloated government payrolls for a few months. The fact that these public sector jobs are now being lost proves this. There were no new jobs created. It worked the same as his Cash for Clunkers program.
