The sexual assault case against ex IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Khan is close to collapse, it was tonight revealed.
The New York hotel maid who accused Strauss-Khan of raping her in his $3,000-a-night suite, lied to investigators, law enforcement sources told the New York Times.
Despite a wealth of forensic evidence against the 62-year-old, prosecutors have dismissed a lot of what the maid said about the alleged encounter, according to the newspaper.

According to the NYT she seems to be a money launderer for drug deals. Looks like she gave so many false answers to questions about her life that her credibility is is doubt.

Since what we hear in the newspapers is probably only 50% of the whole story - I will feel free to wildly speculate....
The woman was a Pro, and when she learned who the guy was, thought that a big pay-off was possible. Or, she was a Pro, and knowing DSK’s predilections, one of his many political enemies sent her, hoping DSK would take the bait and leave a bit of DNA.....
Excellent lawyers at work behind the scenes, they will walk this dirt bag. An acquaintance who worked for a huge New York law firm told me they had entire teams of investigators and researchers at their disposal. They will find out everything this woman ever did in her life until she is being put on trial herself. Basic Wild Kingdom stuff here, things tend to get eaten alive when they mess with the big predators.
