What the MSM never said and continues to refuse to report accurately is the “Mission Accomplished” banner was NOT Bush's idea. It was posted by the sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln as a statement that they had completed their first combat cruise.

The Bush administration started trying to dig out of that hole immediately but the image was too good to pass up.

Remember, Bush told us immediately after September 11, 2001 that it was going to be a long war that would take years and would be fought mainly in the shadows. Now why would he say something totally different less than two years later?
