No joke...I just got my mail today, and sitting on top was a letter from NPR. Seriously...
It starts:
“ Dear ______,
I regret to inform you that our concern about a possible financial shortfall has forced us to review both our TV and our radio programming here at WETA.”

blah blah, we need you, blah blah
“Of course, I don’t know how often you watch our flagship channel, WETA TV 26, or tune in to Classical WETA 90.9 FM. But I suspect it happens at least once a week— maybe more.”

blah blah just give us $35...or $100, yes, $100 would be nice. If you send us $35, we will send you a sticker, and a bi-weekly spamming of your email address.
“Sincerely,
Mary Kay Phelps
PS I must remind you again of the urgency of our financial situation. We must find new friends like you who will join with their neighbors- and help us keep the programs you care about on the air!!!”

Erm...so...should I send them back a letter telling them that I’m one of those nasty, evil Tea Party people? Too bad they couldn’t even be bothered to pay the return postage, or I’d just run the letter they sent through my shredder and send it right back. LOL

We have the same tendency of responding to headlines that everybody else has.

The difference is, more of us take the time to read the articles.

And, if the Republicans in the House don’t hold fast on this one issue, then it’s definitely Third Party time. We need to make sure the Republicans know that this is not a threat—it’s a promise.

I truly don't believe a "third party" option would solve the issue.

OK...it would amply demonstrate to the rinos that the right wing was not kidding when they said that either the rinos would have to stand firm or they would be abandoned.

Now...just how many would leave the rinos and move to the third party? And who would lead the 3rd party? And to win a national election, most all of the current rino support, better than 70% of the independents, and at least 5% of the dem/lib/prog/pops would have to move to the 3rd party as well.

Not likely...not likely at all.

So...we're stuck with trying to find a right winger who can represent most of us most of the time...and that is just about impossible with the current crop of "wannabees".

And that leaves the stain four more years to set.

Not a pretty picture at all.

All budgeting starts in the house. If the house doesn’t fund it, they don’t get it.

Yes, most of us are aware of that. Has the house voted to defund the stain's healthcare law? No. Has the house voted to defund NPR? No.

I'm very glad to know about this. But I'm realistic enough to know this is going absolutely no where in the Senate and, if by some miracle, it should pass the Senate, nobama will veto this in a Chicago-thug minute.

According to this article,

In a statement released prior to the vote by its Office of Management and Budget, the White House opposed the bill, saying, "The vast majority of [the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's] funding for public radio goes to more than 700 stations across the country, many of them local stations serving communities that rely on them for access to news and public safety information. Undercutting funding for these radio stations, notably ones in rural areas where such outlets are already scarce, would result in communities losing valuable programming, and some stations could be forced to shut down altogether."

The legislation now goes to the Democratically-controlled Senate, where it is not expected to move forward.

Note the last sentence.

IMHO, the GOP in the House is just fooling around. Why did they waste any time at all on this, knowing it will go nowhere. This isn't even a moral victory.

I want CPB/NPR/PBS defunded. But I would have been willing to wait until the next budget because I agree that this is going nowhere under the circumstances.

I am NOT willing to wait to defund 0bamacare. But the GOP leadership is not only willing to wait, they don't seem willing to defund it at all.

I'm pissed.

I’m getting really sick of this empty symbolism. I hope the leadership doesn’t think we’re going to be pacified by this.

Wrong. Seven RINOS voted No.

Here is a link to the vote http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll190.xml

There were 5 republicans who did not vote, but not one republican according to House records voted no on this bill.

It’s about time the House quit taxing the poor and middle class to pay for liberal elite entertainment networks...

Also read the title. The vote passed with 236 yea votes there are 240 Republicans 5 did not vote so 235 voted yes, Heath Shuler a democrat voted yes making that total 236.

So please show me where any republican voted no I looked thoroughly through the Roll Coll votes and could not find a single Republican who voted no.
