A purge may be underway in the polygamous communities of Hildale-Colorado City on the Utah-Arizona border. 2News has been told even men who were in FLDS leadership positions have been ousted from the sect.
"There's a big shake up," said Isaac Wyler, long-time resident of Colorado City. "There are a lot of people who are shaken by what's happened with their families."
Wyler was one of three people, close to the communities, who spoke to 2News Tuesday night.
Perhaps as many as three dozen men have been told to leave over the past two months, and the orders to get out may have come from none other than the jailed Warren Jeffs.

You’re very kind.
Well, glad to hear it, MrB. At first I wasn’t sure.
You definitely put me off with that “Americanist” crap.
I am a conservative America, an American conservative, as are most people in FR, which is a conservative activist forum, made up mostly of Americans.
I don’t need any phony made-up labels.
Just call me a conservative or politely abstain from calling me anything at all.
Not kind. Just factual.
I’ve been to St George, by the way, many years ago. Used to live in Las Vegas and a friend of mine had a cabin somewhere in Utah, I forget where.
We would drive through St George to get there and then through (or near) Strawberry Canyon.
You’re right - in particular, Caucasian parents who choose to have large families are ridiculed and attacked, the most prominent example is the Duggar family.
You’d be hardpressed to find a policy of the left that doesn’t have the effect and intent of reducing family size or destroying the traditional family altogether.
One example - think about the incentive effect of CAFE standards + car seat requirements.
They will, they got to keep molesting those little girls.
It does not. There have been articles posted very recently that proves that while a man siring 50 children, might be a feather in some man's caps, if a man has 50 wives and 50 children, that means those wives are below the norm in producing children. Only liberal math can see this in any other way.
polygamous communities
I thought this was against the law. Why do we have LAWS that we don’t ENFORCE?? Makes my blood boil!!
They do enforce the law against polygamy in Texas.
They attempted to enforce the law against polygamy in Utah in the early 1950's, but it caused so much negative publicity for the Mormon Church that the State promptly discontinued all efforts.
THE BOOK OF JACOB
THE BROTHER OF NEPHICHAPTER 224 Behold, David and Solomon truly had many wives and concubines, which thing was abominable before me, saith the Lord.
25 Wherefore, thus saith the Lord, I have led this people forth out of the land of Jerusalem, by the power of mine arm, that I might raise up unto me a righteous branch from the fruit of the loins of Joseph.
26 Wherefore, I the Lord God will not suffer that this people shall do like unto them of old.
27 Wherefore, my brethren, hear me, and hearken to the word of the Lord: For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none;
28 For I, the Lord God, delight in the chastity of women. And whoredoms are an abomination before me; thus saith the Lord of Hosts.
29 Wherefore, this people shall keep my commandments, saith the Lord of Hosts, or cursed be the land for their sakes.
30 For if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things.
31 For behold, I, the Lord, have seen the sorrow, and heard the mourning of the daughters of my people in the land of Jerusalem, yea, and in all the lands of my people, because of the wickedness and abominations of their husbands.
32 And I will not suffer, saith the Lord of Hosts, that the cries of the fair daughters of this people, which I have led out of the land of Jerusalem, shall come up unto me against the men of my people, saith the Lord of Hosts.
Or even HERE:
1 Timothy 3:2-3
2. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,
3. not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.1 Timothy 3:12
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.
THE
DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS
OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTSSECTION 1325157, Emma Smith is counseled (commanded) to be faithful and true; 5866, Laws governing the plurality of wives are set forth.51 Verily, I say unto you: A commandment I give unto mine handmaid, Emma Smith, your wife, whom I have given unto you, that she stay herself and partake not of that which I commanded you to offer unto her; for I did it, saith the Lord, to aprove you all, as I did Abraham, and that I might require an offering at your hand, by covenant and sacrifice.52 And let mine handmaid, Emma Smith, areceive all those that have been given unto my servant Joseph, and who are virtuous and pure before me; and those who are not pure, and have said they were pure, shall be destroyed, saith the Lord God.53 For I am the Lord thy God, and ye shall obey my voice; and I give unto my servant Joseph that he shall be made ruler over many things; for he hath been afaithful over a few things, and from henceforth I will strengthen him.55 But if she will not abide this commandment, then shall my servant Joseph do all things for her, even as he hath said; and I will bless him and multiply him and give unto him an ahundredfold in this world, of fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, houses and lands, wives and children, and crowns of beternal lives in the eternal worlds.
I'm not implying anything about muslims - I think this statement stands on its own:
"Or they could practice female circumcision like good muslims."
And yes, it was all sarcastic in as much as there is so much concern over the polygamous communities in our western states (and justifiably so) but others who practice unusual and un-natural sexual/social relationships are the darlings of progressives.
My point is that there is political correctness in the form of selective outrage at work here. White Mormons practicing poltgamy = BAD. Other groups engaging in similar or even more harmful conduct = Ho-Hum.
Why isn't there at least equal outrage over homosexualism which is responsible for the spreading of debilitating disease?
As you point out, muslims also practice polygamy. They also are into forced marriage of children, Where is the equivalent outrage over that?
How many articles have been posted here expressing outrage about Mormon polygamy? Quite a few, I would say. How many articles have been posted expressing outrage about muslim polygamy? Few if any. The disparity isn't due to selective posting by Freepers, it is due to a dirth of articles critical of muslim conduct.
I think it is a great idea. Let the women bitch at each other so they are all bitched out by the time it is their turn to be with the guy.
We already have an unofficial polygamous culture in America, in case you didn’t know. It’s called welfare communities.
Even if you cant do the math (1 + 1 = 2), just look at the muzzie societies, where the rich have 4 wives and the poor men are all practicing fags who publicly denounce fagness and many of whom become terrorists who willingly blow themselves up to get 72 virgins.
The surplus male problem is also a serious exaggeration. You left out the option of both men and women having affairs. It does happen. In addition, there is also serial divorce and remarriage. There are plenty of unofficial polygamists in the United States, only unofficial because they don’t have a legal marriage license, these would include your typical Hollywood Superstar (serial marriage, promiscuity, affairs, multiple families being supported, etc.) I would actually be surprised with all of this non-monogamous behavior, that the U.S. doesn’t have a serious surplus of men already. The primary reasons I have found for a male surplus have been more related to abortion than polygamy.
As for this situation, the worst crime these people commit, IMO, is cutting themselves off from the rest of society, and the fact that it isn’t a problem for so many people to tolerate someone living in our nation yet not taking part in the processes that affect the rest of us as well. Just about every other problem that they have comes from this.
When them Muzzies start claiming to be 'christians'; get back to me.
The State of Texas would disagree with you. They contend that aggravated sexual assault of children is a serial problem with this group. The juries that have heard the evidence agree with the State.
What is the source for 2News information? In Big Lake Warren Steed Jeffs would have very limited access to a phone with only the card he purchased, and the calls would be monitored. Could it be a rouge attorney or two from his homeland may have decided to take a walk on the wild side and smuggle a tape out? Or was it recorded before he left Utah?
In the past, when men were kicked out, their wives and children were reassigned to other men. Whether that has happened this time is not known, but 2News has been told nearly all of the women and children remain in the polygamous communities.
That's a very interesting statement. Again, what is the source of their information?
During the rescue, children were found on the YFZ to be there with no parents present. At least one of them a Canadian citizen.
They are building a huge building at YFZ next to Warren Steed Jeff's house. It is the size of a motel 6. It certainly would be a convenient place to park the children of these 'unworthy' men. Also it might provide a big incentive for them to keep their mouths shut.

I just posted this article the very day before -- how 19th century Lds polygamy actually lowered the number of kids each "plural wife" had by about one child per mom!!!
See Polygamy hurt 19th century Mormon wives' evolutionary fitness
Statistically, this isn't a guessing game: The authors of the study @ Indiana U. was able to "survey of birth, marriage and death records from the Utah Population Database covers nearly 186,000 Utah adults and their 630,000 children who lived or died between 1830 and 1894."
You are obviously one of the arithmetically challenged people I was referring to. [samtheman to MrB]
Yup. Samtheman is right.
I am humbled, Colofornian.
I think you know why.
