Does the sun revolve around the Earth? One in every three Russians thinks so, a spokeswoman for state pollster VsTIOM said on Friday.
In a survey released this week, 32 percent of Russians believed the Earth was the center of the Solar system; 55 percent that all radioactivity is man-made; and 29 percent that the first humans lived when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth.

The celestial math works out fine for an earth-centric universe.
It's all relative.

Big deal. We have a president who thinks the entire universe revolves around him.

"I wonder whether our colleagues in other countries would find any different."In the United States, the results would probably be about the same.

So basically, your average Russian is about as educated as your average Obama voter?

About as educated as those in Detroit. Maybe a little better.

The celestial math works out fine for an earth-centric universe. Right. The math is easier when you assume a sun-centric system, but that math does not prohibit an earth-centric system.
So yep, it is still scientifically correct to say that the sun rises in the east.

So basically, your average Russian is about as educated as your average Obama voter? There's plenty of people on this forum who believe dinosaurs and humans coexisted.

Actually I sort of admire Russians.
We should as a nation, IMHO, to a certain extent “gang up” on China.
Just to a certain extent though. Don’t entirely trust them yet.

Actually I sort of admire Russians. We should as a nation, IMHO, to a certain extent gang up on China. You are really on to something. The US and Russia should gang up on China, and more importantly, together project a strong united front against radical islam.
Future historians will say that one of the reasons the West fell is that the US picked at Russia, lectured it on human rights, instead of forging a strong alliance.
Putin is no choir boy. But he is not the threat. Radical islam is, and Putin should be our unquestioned ally.

In the US it would be much worse; hell, we even had a congresswoman that thought the astronauts landed on the sun (just kidding - she actually thought they landed on Mars). I’m surprised she didn’t ask if they’d found Bugs Bunny’s nemesis, Marvin the Martian, and unlocked the secrets to his space modulator...
