Megyn Kelly just did an interview with John Green, the father of Christina, the little girl who was killed yesterday in Tuscon.
It was a remarkable interview and if you didn't get a chance to see it, someone will probably have it up on youtube later.
What was SO striking to me was his attitude. He said it would be wrong to have "more controls" because of this- that Christina wouldn't haven't wanted that.
He said what's great is how free we are in America.
He said random things have and will always happen.
He said he has the love of his friends and family and his faith, and perhaps if Loughner had some of it this might not have happened.
He asked that we pray for his daughter, Christina.
Here is a man, in the midst of unimaginable pain, reminding us that life IS random, that some things simply cannot be prevented and that our freedoms are more important than any "controls" that may be sought to prevent this from happening again.
God Bless this family and Godspeed, Christina...
Did you have a chance to hear him?
Wow.
Sounds like she came from an amazing family. Rest with Angels Christina.
I heard the mom this morning with Gretchen Carlson. SHe was also very inspiring. Prayers for Christina
WHAT? The SHERIFF has lawyered up? How often does that happen? I missed that...
I heard that interview.
As a business traveler, he said he has seen the controls that have been added after 9/11/2001 and does not want to add more.
He said this is a random act by a disturbed individual.
Sorry I think the practice of calling the parents to interview the day after the death it plain ghoulish.
The fallen world is a dangerous place.
He said his little girl that died from the shooter and his wife were for Obama he was not.
Good interview but the man was crying and she kept pumping questions.
He said his lawyer has advised him not to disclose information about the suspects previous threats. My guess is that he dropped the ball knowing this idiot was a danger to society.
No, football is on all day at my house.
God bless this wonderful man. I prayed for her sweet innocent soul last night and for her family.
God love her and her father and her family.
That is odd.
That can't be SOP in cases like this for the Sheriff (or a police chief) to do so can it?
Perhaps he is clean but plans on using this crisis for personal advancement and has to watch his P's and Q's?
Just a thought.
Mr. Green is correct. If Ms. Giffords had one security person with weapon and training at her event, much, if not all, of this tragedy might have been averted.
I heard this little girl was former Major League Baseball manager Dallas Green’s grand-daughter.
Prayers to his whole family and the others who were lost. I feel especially bad for the family friend who took Christina to the rally. A neighbor, just trying to be nice, and look what happens.
So, so painful to listen to this poor man.... and his wife earlier. Shocking to learn that it could have been so much worse for this family, as his son would also have gone with his sister.....but didn’t because he had karate class. In an instant, they BOTH could have been gone.
Needless to say, their whole family feature prominently in my prayers. I pray for all of them. So much pain, yet such an thoughtful man... kind sounding, loving man.
I’ve spent the past day alternating between tears, rage.... and total disgust. Overall, I’m just so sad.

I bet he knew this guy was a threat to society and failed to protect the congresswoman.

I second that emotion. Fox News on the whole has been disappointing to me. First the inaccurate reporting of the Congresswomen's death and then with Geraldo's lame attempt to suggest Palin had anything to do with the it A real piece of work he is.
