Joy Behar Annoyed at 'Constitution-loving' House Republicans
NewsBusters ^ | 1/4/11

Posted on 01/05/2011 8:42:03 AM PST by EBH

Joined by a balanced panel of liberal Bloomberg news columnist Margaret Carlson and leftist radio host Bill Press, HLN's Joy Behar took to her eponymous program last night to dismiss the plan Republican congressmen have to read the entire U.S. Constitution from the House floor later this week.

"Do you think this Constitution-loving is getting out of hand? I mean, is it a nod to the Tea Party?" Behar asked Press, before unwittingly, perhaps, answering her own question: "Is it the first time a lot of congressmen will have heard about it, er, read it?"

Congressmen are of course bound by constitutionally-required oath to "support this Constitution," and it's not inconceivable that some congressmen -- like Rep. John Conyers (D-Michigan) -- could brush up on their constitutional knowledge.

Joy Behar is one of the few people on Earth who would look better turned inside out.

If they were true to their oaths, most in Congress would be bound to defend the country against themselves.

This may backfire on the GOP. What are they going to do when they have to read these phrases found in the constitution out loud:

“the seperation of chruch and state”
“abortion is a fundamental right that shall not be abridged”
“the commerce clause removes all federal restraints and gives the federal government jurisdiction over every aspect of American life”
“the constitution is a living document”

Opps, sorry. Those lines are NOT IN THE CONSTITUTION.

“Do we really care what that imbecile has to say?”

Of course, she is free to express her opinion, but words do have consequences. She should be shamed on behalf of all those who sacrificed, fought and died for her right to say something so ignorant.

This is actually good. For far too long we have operated as though we all accepted the constitution. The left paid lip service to it too. This I’d good for them to finally admit that they view it as a joke and do not feel bound by it. The battle is moving into our field now.
No longer can they pretend to be constitutionalists,, now we can argue openly as to whether our not to follow it,,, and no longer must listen to them claiming they are faithful to it too!

The libs are all pretty old. Since they aborted their babies, there are no young to take their place. With that said, Hollywood glamorizes the baby bump.

If you are shallow and unprincipled enough to watch such a show regularly, you are likely something of a blank slate ripe for an eventual brainwash job when you come to accept or tolerate their opinions on issues over time . . . whether they realize it or not.

Simple rule: If you aren’t spitting mad after watching Behar’s show 15 minutes, you are not intellectually capable of resisting the brainwash and have no business watching. Furthermore, your TV viewing habits should be subject to parental blocks, lest you become a danger to society.

Agreed.

It should also serve as a “highlight” to all conservatives and republicans of exactly what we’re up against.

Rush just spent the show opening discussing how they are describing the fetish....surrounding the Constitution.

My question is how can they sit in that chamber today and take their Oath of Offices.

The Constitution is 12 or 13 pages long. It shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to read it aloud.

Like Obama said, the problem they (liberal statists) have with the Constitution is that in their infinite wisdom the framers constructed the laws of the land to restrain government from doing what they want. The statists can’t abide by that which is why they hate, ignore, scoff at and call the Constitution “living and breathing” when they mean “dead”.

The Constitution is only about 7,000 words long.

What a novel idea!

Read the Constitution in front of liberals and watch their heads spin around and puke green pea soup.

Oh, absolutely,

leftists like her dismiss the Bible and only use out of context verses occasionally to bludgeon believers.

Elitists “know better” than the Word of God, and they will openly demonstrate that they think this way by judging the Bible by their own standards.

I always carry my CATO-supplied pocket-sized copy of The Constitution and The Bill of Rights in my briefcase. People still look at me crazy when I pull it out to settle an argument.

Sad.
