Two new rules will give Constitution a starring role in GOP-controlled House

When Republicans take over next week, they will do something that apparently has never been done before in the 221-year history of the House of Representatives.

They will read the Constitution aloud.

And then they will require that every new bill contain a statement by the legislator who wrote it citing the constitutional authority to enact the proposed law.

Call it the tea party-ization of Congress.

"It appears that the Republicans have been listening," said Jeff Luecke, a sales supervisor and tea party organizer in Dubuque, Iowa. "We're so far away from our founding principles that, absolutely, this is the very, very tip of the iceberg. We need to talk about and learn about the Constitution daily."

**SNIP**

The reading of the Constitution will occur Jan. 6, one day after the swearing in of Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-Ohio). The 4,543-word document, including all 27 amendments, could be read aloud in just 30 minutes.

If that's all the time it takes to read our Founding Document aloud, then it ought to be read at the beginning of every session of Congress.

I understand that the Senate hasn't adopted this rule, though they should.

Are we supposed to be impressed?

When do these AHs lower taxes, secure our borders, start jailing thousands of greedy employers that hire millions of illegal aliens, and dramatically reduce the size of this bloated, ever growing corrupt government?

When does that happen??

How dare you write about that which should not be noticed, how do you expect the Congress to retain its superior powerful hold on this country if we talk about that which we should not talk about and notice that which should never be noticed.

I can’t wait to see Rat bills picked apart over Constitutionality. They won’t know what hit them and they will have no idea how to defend the bills.

What about the old bills that are unconstitutional and have already done great damage?I say we need to start all over from the ground up all over the country in all governments and undo the FDR mess.

Will they dare to bring up the subject of term limits?

Only then will I start to believe their sincerity.

US Constitution should be a permanent Power Point Presentation looping slide show above and behind the speaker`s rostrum.

Oh That is Nice!

Whoever can honestly claim credit for this idea deserves LOTS of campaign funding from the general public.

Oh... and whoever opposes it needs to be thrown out on their ears.

This regular article goes out to thousands of small newspapers throughout the US every week. 'Newspapers?', you say. 'Who reads newspapers anymore?' The same demographic that votes - Seniors.

Not necessarily true. I haven't subscribed to or read a newspaper in more than 10 years. They are not even good fishwrap but are good for masking your spray paint jobs.

One more lefty on the USSC, and the Constitution itself won’t pass muster any longer.

I wonder if they will call out their own negligence when they read section 4.... For proof of their failure to act we only need to look at the conditions in our southern border states, the invasion has been ongoing for years.

“The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence”

Yes, it will make for great theater. For the first time we may get to view the wild ravings of progressive lunatics defending their social justice, Marxist interpretations.

I hope our guys hit ‘em with quotes and debates from the founding era. Let the rats sputter about a living and breathing document and make fools of themselves.

Conservatives must also be willing to buck Supreme Court rulings, for Scotus has royally botched up the commerce and general welfare clauses.
