Former USDA official Shirley Sherrod, who claims she was falsely smeared as a racist while she herself falsely smears Republicans and Fox News as racists, said this morning that she would like to see BigGovernment.com, the website that made her famous, shut down for the good of the country.
CNN's American Morning reported on Sherrod's demand:
She said if Breitbart's site were shut down, "That would be a great thing, because I don't see how that advances us in this country ... at a time when we should be trying to look at how we can make space for all of us in this country, so that we can all live and work together, he's doing more to divide us."
Sherrod also told CNN she is considering suing Andrew Breitbart, the owner of Big Government:
"I really think I should. You know, I don't know a lot about the legal profession, but that's one person I'd like to get back at. Because he came at me. You know, he didn't go after the NAACP. He came at me."
Yesterday, in an interview with the Democrat front group Media Matters, Sherrod smeared Fox News as wanting to take blacks back to the Jim Crow era:
... they would love to take us back to where we were many years ago. Back to where black people were looking down, not looking white folks in the face, not being able to compete for a job out there and not be a whole person."
In the same speech given in March to the NAACP that initially got Sherrod fired by the Obama administration, Sherrod smeared Republicans as racists for opposing Barack Obama's government takeover of healthcare:
"Some of the racism we thought was buried, didn't it surface? Now we endured eight years of the Bushes, and we didn't do the stuff these Republicans are doing because you have a black president."
Sherrod is being annointed as a saint by the media for her claim to have overcome her own racism. She is even being compared to Nelson Mandela. Yet to this day she speaks in starkly racist terms of "my people" and "his own kind" while flinging the race card as skillfully as Jesse Jackson at her perceived political opponents.
She also has revealed a leftist totalitarian streak. It's no wonder the communists from ANSWER and Code Pink were out supporting her yesterday:
I read her lame-a$$ apology.
And she never ONCE apologized to Mr. Limbaugh himself.
She’s not sorry at all.
I, too, am fed up with the FReepers claiming this racist/bigot had a moment of enlightenment.
Yep..I have one of those forks. They work pretty good too. I use my all the time in the garden.
Loaded for bear, a good month’s provisions put up, escape routes mapped if needed.
Forget it, I’m seeing too many on the right saying “can we please stop talking about racism” for whatever reason they think sweeping the Justice Dept.’s stand, the NBPP’s stand, Sherrod’s stand etc. should just be forgotten about, it’s ridiculous!
No, that would be the job of the NAACP.
There should be no separatist groups...period. And as long as there is we will remain divided.
“Ths woman has exceeded her 15 minutes of fame. She needs to fade back into obscurity but the left will not let her...”
In fairness, it’s not the left who deserve the ‘thanks’ for drawing her into the spotlight. This entire situation was ill-conceived and totally avoidable.
It’s hard to guess now how it will ultimately play out, but momentum on the left is clearly building for the “Breitbart and Fox News are frauds” storyline. It will probably get carried too far, and cause a backlash, but we’ll see.
I can’t wait to hear what Michael Steele has to say about all this. I suspect his position just got a little bit safer, as Steele has already implied his troubles as chairman stem from being black.
Breitbart’s timing on this was spectacularly bad. We’re moving up on elections, with an advantage. The last thing we need right now is a race fight. Was trying to make a point about the NAACP really that important at this time? Have we forgotten already, from what happened in the democrat primaries, that Obama’s team will go after ANYONE who opposes them, even a former president of their own party, as a racist?
This should have gone away by now, and maybe by this weekend we won’t be hearing about it anymore. I hope that’s the case.
About ready to. This is just too painful to watch. And if I hear Beck with his "I'll gladly get in the truck to the gulag if it's the right thing to do" speech one more time my head is going to explode.
it shows the hypocrisy of the left corrupt media wing.
If this had been a white person then they would never have been forgiven, yet this woman not only admits to her supposed past racism but also talks sometimes in present tense thus indicating she has those racist views still
I see that the corrupt media didn’t really cover this at the time it came out but waited until damage control was done the night following.
I really hate the corrupt left wing media for their lies, the8ir bias and their total disregard for their job and professionalism
Well BOR and Hannity ran the tapes the first night. Glenn came on the next day and said that he had not viewed it yet but went on to drfend this woman. My comments about this being an ambush for him stems from Sherrods coment that she was told that first day that she had to resign because she was going to be on Glemm Beck that night. So yeah I believe this was all set up to attack Glenn Beck becauser she did not say anything about BOR or Hannity. By the time Beck had a chance to review the tape he must have smelled a rat.
Did you even listen to her entire speech, and read her history? Where do you think a white goverment official would be at, if he referred to some black farmer that came to him for help as, “ sent him to his own kind”?He'd be crucified by the lamestream media.
This woman is a racist, pure and simple. She has no business working for the United Sates government and getting paid by our tax dollars.
We stand with Breitbart!
If he should be shut down, then a president who honors a klansman should resign.
Oohhhhh, okay, now I've got you. I see where you're coming from, got it.
Now I do, I'll have to add a no, I don't believe Glenn saw it, smelled a set-up and made sure to be on the *good side* of the deal. He really did look at it and think Ms. Sherrod was taken out of context, that the White House jumped the gun in demanding her resignation -- he's sincere in his opinion on this, wrong though I believe him to be.
Right. Sharrod isn’t the worst racist in the world, but she is no saint either. Greater context doesn’t vindicate her. And Breitbart’s main point was the racism of the NAACP in general, the way they cheered when they thought a white farmer might get the shaft. That was perfect context.
Beck is worried about losing his sight. His opinion doesn’t count, bless him.
Sue on what grounds?
This is getting outrageous.
Meanwhile the left is raising your taxes and stealing your freedom. :(
The Shirley Sherrods of the world oppress poor women.
Giving single mothers 100% loans for rural housing with no down payment is a sure way to keep them impoverished for a lifetime.
The single moms are not financially savvy — they see only the present moment. For most it is that seeing only the present moment is why they become ‘single mothers’ in the first place. Woman mature enough to consider the impact of decisions today will have many years down the road don’t put themselves in a situation where they become single moms.
Such people are PREY for lenders, who HOOK them and CHAIN them into a lifetime of mortgage payments.
Why do the socialists such as those in the US Agriculture Department, such as Shirley Sherrod, insist on setting up the weakest among us for lifetimes of victimization?
Sorry, I didn’t want to make it sound like I was speaking for you. FRegards ....
I never liked her. Just another race hustler asking: “Where da free stuff at?”
