RELIGION, a sheet from English class, handed out to eighth-graders, is provocatively titled. The typewritten paper presents some 20 quotes that can be described as anti-God, coming from philosophers from Kierkegaard to Schopenhauer. Even a Yiddish proverb.
Religion is a disease, but a noble disease, reads the first quote, attributed to Heraclitus.
Religion is the masterpiece of the art of animal training, for it trains people as to how they will think, reads one by Schopenhauer.
Another sheet, titled GOD, asks kids to ponder whether religion should be treated as poetry neither true nor false.
Angry parents want to know: What the devil does this have to do with middle-school English? [...]
Once, schools taught kids to read, write and think. Now, educators use personal bias to preach what to think. The list keeps growing.

Knowledge is good, yeah, definitely good,
Liberalism is the ROOT of P.C.
Liberalism is like political correctness whereby at its core is a hot headed God Hater screaming out loudly that they want nothing to do GOD and by extension any conservative christian values or beliefs.
"All who hate me love DEATH" - GOD
Liberalism = GAY Lifestyle, Abortion, Anti-Christian & Anti-Conservative values, Drug indulgent lifestyle, etc.
I don’t know for certain the exact experience or sequence of events when someone dies, so I picture the scenes from the movie “Ghost” when one of the “bad guys” die.
Like I said, I don’t know but I do know that eternity is a very long time for folks teaching little ones evil.
The aptly named English teacher, Rachel Rear, contends that the assignment had nothing to do with anti-religion and was simply an introduction to philospohical thinking in a literary context. Uh-hmm.
This Rear-person wouldn’t mind producing notes made in the preparation of this assignment, then? Just the internet search terms used to collect her quotes would clear things up in a jiffy.
Funny, how they fail to mention allah. We can deny God but we dare not say anything against allah. Who the hell are these people and where is there brain?

Heraclitus of Ephesus never said that the closest statement would be this:
Vanity - the sacred disease -Heraclitus
I hate communists.
It’s more like a human cesspool, and it has become more third world than you’d imagine.
Wake up!!!!! Americans.
Marxism, Secular Humanism, “Progressive” thought, and “Social Justice” now INFECT every subject that is taught.
In fact, most of the colleges who provide the academic degrees for “teaching” actively promote that teachers should surround the “teaching” of their basic subject (all subjects) in the precepts of Marx, Secular Humanism, “Progressive” thought and “Social Justice”.
By their (academia) ideological orthodoxy, every subject needs to be used as a tool for understanding (indoctrinating) everyone in Marxist, Secular Humanist, Progressive and so-called “Social Justice” precepts.
How right you are!
"It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones."
Luke 17:2 (King James Version)
DISGUSTING!!!
The Cloward-Piven tactics of this administration to destroy the civil society are well underway.
First of all, the title of this article is very misleading. How can you paint the ENTIRE NYC public school system as teaching children “that religion is a disease” when it’s actually one misguided or perhaps even stupid teacher doing this? Isn’t that rather a bit of hyperbole? How is that fair to the many teachers I know who DO NOT teach that “religion is a disease”?
Second, Andrea Peyser is very much a hack writer who writes for the tabloid NY Post. She thrives on titillating hyperbole to trick the gullible into reading her poorly-written paragons of yellow journalism. Anything written by her generally is sensationalist trash, fit only to line a cat litter box.
Not quite. The honors academies/magnet schools are among the best in the state (if you qualify), and areas like Bayside and Forest Hills with large Asian and Jewish populations are still strong performers. Chicago doesn’t exactly have such options.
