All around, there are Democrats telling us their prospects for November are looking up. Things aren't as bad as Republicans say! Health care is becoming more popular! The country wants financial reform! People still like Barack Obama! Isn't Joe Barton awful!
They're fooling themselves. The basic indicators of voters' intentions -- their general mood and attitude toward the policies of Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid -- are clear and solid. Unless those indicators change, and most experts believe that would take a huge, unforeseen event that fundamentally alters the political equation, Democrats are in for serious losses this November. The only question is whether those losses will be big enough for them to lose their huge majorities in the House and Senate. Even if they're not, the party will be badly weakened in the next Congress.
The latest evidence is a new survey from pollsters Peter Hart and Bill McInturff for the Wall Street Journal and NBC. The number of people who say the country is headed in the wrong direction is 62 percent -- the highest it has been since the final days of George W. Bush. The troubled economy, of course, is the most important issue, and 66 percent say they expect the economy to stay the same or get worse in the next year.
"There is a sense across the board that things aren't working," says Republican pollster David Winston.
Obama's approval rating is at 45 percent, versus 48 percent disapproval -- the first time the president has ever been underwater in the Journal poll. (By way of contrast, the president's approval rating was 61 percent in April 2009, his high point in the Journal poll.)

Well the, he better get to granting amnesty via executive order.
That looks like a cross between Jimmah and Mick Jagger
I agree

It was a translation from a Czech newspaper.
It’s been all over the net. It’s something to keep in that little quote file on your desktop.
Methinks when that happens, it will be right before the first shots are fired in what will be CWII.
Meanwhile, while we are reading comments about how the GOP or conservatives in general are going to take back Congress this fall, we are seeing an amazing display of socialist legislation passing and being enacted into law. As such, it becomes less possible to turn the ship of state back around till no earlier than 2013, if at all.
This would be nice.... I’m not totally convinced. Call me a pessimist...
People have trouble believing Obama would mass murder Americans for a political end.
But it’s very true. You touched on something deeply true. Every combat veteran has had that moment, where they realized in a directly personal way,, that their own government was indeed willing to accept their certain violent death, to achieve a political goal. This comes as a shock after living in a society where the slightest chance of someone’s death will instantly stop any activity.
If i accept that in some circumstances, a moral president who cares for our nation, culture, and people, will trade a number of American lives to achieve a MORAL goal, then why is it so hard to imagine that a hard socialist who grew up in Indonesian Muslim culture, and who has clear dislike for all things traditionally “American”, would kill us to achieve his goals?
Is he somehow MORE moral and compassionate than Reagan, Bush, FDR, Ike, JFK?
Yes. Yes he would, as would those who own him. They've said as much from time to time. They are all monsters - Killers Without Conscience. They aren't the first, and they won't be the last.
I think Rush said it best when he suggested we Should have Carters face on those Miss me yet? billboards.
an actual billboard looping over I-45 outside of Dallas
I've been recommending that the heirs of James Buchanan spring for one of those with his face on it.
Michelle’s face should be photoshopped over Toto’s.
That quote is on my profile page now. I had passed that on several times this year.
It’s time to marshall the troops and out-alinsky the alinskyites.
Post on the lib boards that this election is “too big to be lost”. Encourage the Loony-Left to vote as many times as they can get away with. Push them to push the GOTV efforts and get as many people (real and imagined) signed up to vote in November.
Cloward-Piven the ACORN strategy.
I think we should be targeting 100+ House seats for pickup
Texas is already close to the edge of secession as it is. It won’t take a lot more lost jobs due to Obamination to take us there.
This particular stat doesn't mean much, it was used against Bush in the same manner. It includes, in this case many democrats who think we aren't heading leftward enough, just as Bush's included conservatives who thought we weren't heading rightward. A better polling question would be, "are you sorry yet that you voted for this worthless P.O.S."?
