We've been hearing a lot of comments recently about a national coup d'etat scheduled for sometime in late summer or early fall and designed to circumvent the coming Democrat debacle in the 2010 elections.
This is an example of political gothic of a type that I tend to overlook. But my interest was piqued by the fact that it has been mentioned several dozen times in the comment threads of essays of mine in recent weeks. I've had a little difficulty grasping exactly how such a thing would work, so I've spent the last few days puzzling it out.
The contention is that at some point before the upcoming November elections, an "incident" of some violent but unknown nature will occur that will provide Obama with the opportunity to declare "martial law" across the country, which will involve the "cancellation" or "postponement" of the elections. This will enable the Obama dictatorship to take off its humanist mask and put its true agenda into play, part of which involves sending JRD up to Prudhoe Bay to feed moss to the caribou for the next ten years.
Breaking this thesis into its component parts, we find

A major economic crash may well lead to sporadic violence, if not anarchy. But martial law would still be almost impossible to impose on a national basis, short of an absolute catastrophe (multiple simultaneous nuclear detonations, i.e. - TEOTWAWKI). Short of such a horror, it would be almost impossible for the Federal government to persuade state legislatures to cancel the elections in the fall. The Alinsky model does apply however, in using Progressive organizations to militate for increased government power and control over people and property.
You didn’t hear of it because our side didn’t impute it on Bush ... But the opposition did.
The likes of FR (not kook sites) had the same level, if not higher, banter about Clinton as you’re seeing now.
Trust me. Nothing about the rhetoric has changed except the names.
There are just a certain percentage of people who want to see that kind of outrage happen because they either want to justify their outrage or they’re just bored.
If martial law occurs:
1) American Thinker is eliminated
2) Many posters on this board begin to disappear.
3) Many more posters will not go without a fight.
3) Most posters will do NOTHING.

Because the military has made it very clear that anything this president tells them to do is a legal order. Nobody beneath the president can question the legality of the orders.
Remember when O said that he wanted a force in America (brown shirts) that was better trained than the military?
I never worried about Klintoon. He was/is an affable boob type. But THIS guy, is pure marxist coupled with a patina of multicultural likeability. In some ways he's even slicker than Slick Willie. He has no roots here. He wasn't raise here. He has no "American" in him................

I agree. Ridiculous to even think that our military would obey this numbskull. There would be a coup alright, and our military would be in charge of these traitors in a NY minute. Give us one good rifle company and the ‘SEIU and panthers’ would be history. Sheesh.
I know it is easy to be a tough guy behind a computer, but I would actually welcome such an event. It appears to me that there is no way this country can ever close the divide that exists between the left and right without some sort of armed combat. I think it will be brief and it may ultimately end in the dissolution of the republic, but I am not sure this republic can survive much longer with almost half the country believing they have a right to take the earnings of the other half. If something has to happen I prefer it happen on my watch rather than pass this untenable situation on to future generations. Please don’t think I hope it comes to revolution - -I clearly hope the ballot box can suffice—but if we can not peacefully resolve our differences then I would rather it happen now than 20 years down the road.
Even us discussing this is frightening. I am one of the one’s that believe a catastrophic even will occur this Summer, or Fall, that will cause the postponement of the November election, at a minimum. I have said all along that Obama has an agenda and he used the Dims to get into position to enact that agenda. IMHO, our biggest hope is that a few patriot Dims will wake up and help us out of the very bad situation. If they do not, God help us and America.
