Stocks fell sharply Thursday after an unexpected spike in jobless claims and as global jitters pushed the dollar higher.
-snip-
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down nearly 300 points, or almost 3 percent, and the CBOE volatility index, widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, spiked more than 20 percent to above 43, its highest level in over a year.

I guess that guy that said 2 days -2 weeks til crash was right.
And don't forget about the coming "commercial real estate time bomb that is just right around the corner" that we are always hearing about.
But I do believe that if the DOW falls below 10K again it will be a huge shock (especially to those who believe the MSM propaganda that we are in a strong recovery) and could result in a huge panic
20cents here,$2.79 to $2.59 today.
$2.75 in Florida is pretty good. Your taxes are higher there.
Great book. Every American should read it.
Lots of money yet to be made here.
It’s that Hopey Changey thingy don’t ya know.
I don't know if I'd describe it as a bomb, per se. But, there certainly is an overabundance of commercial real estate that equals or perhaps even surpasses the excess inventory of residential properties.
In business districts all across the country, there is AMPLE commercial space available. We will need to see this excess shrink before we see construction rebound in any substantive way. We might remember that it was the construction industry that helped to buoy the economy in the immediate aftermath of the last recession. Absent that industry, I'm not sure what is going to get us out of this recession.
Of course, it's not all bad news. With excess inventory comes falling rents. This makes things a little easier for start-ups and business expansion, theoretically.
I was going to put a "however" in but I have to think about it more/
Going to be an interesting afternoon for me!

“Theres that word again.”
It’s too early to be drinking! Couldn’t they wait until a respectable hour, like 3:00?
I thought an increase in unemployment claims was good news since it means the economy is improving *so* much that people are again actively looking for work??
Obama dribbles (and golfs) while Rome burns...
going down!
I have a couple books on candlesticks and have been studying them off and on for over a year. Sadly I haven’t had time yet to focus my efforts on them more.
But from what I have observed, the patterns do indeed tend to reflect short-term sentiment well. The trick is familiarizing yourself with the many patterns. Plus the candlesticks themselves convey more intra-day information that the Western bar symbols.
Good luck!
the only way for this corrupt media ot actually do some fair reporting on the facts is if they market drops to such an extent that it hurts them in their own pockets .
people losing jobs , losing houses etc doesn’t bother this corrupt media, it is they who need to be hit hard in their own pocket and then they might wake up

This isn’t about unemployment. This is about the Euro contagion spreading to Japan.
This is a train that Bernanke and the ECB simply cannot stop.
Once the bond vigilantes get done with Japan, they’ll turn to us. In other words, get ready for some massive inflation
If you have credit card debt and no plan to get out of it within the next 6-12 months, you need to stop the swiping and pare it down.
With Israel/Iran and N. Korea/S Korea heating up, and with Europe on the brink of economic disintegration, this is going to be a long hot summer.
Another Obama failure. I wonder when someone will actually point this out Obama has made a huge mess of the economy with his bail outs and unstimulating spending packages. They lie when they say their actions stopped deeper recession. They lie about everything, they cannot prove that their actions did anything and they just make stuff up.
