I agree that was always what I thought we should have done. A good nuke after 9/11 would have saved our troops and solved this problem for good.

I thought about this as a strictly academic excercise. A nuke is a terribly ugly weapon. The first nation to use a nuke will lose whatever status in the world and be regarded as a pariah. It would be better just to bomb the dickens out of Mecca, while giving immediate theat to bomb Medina. After they rebuild, bomb it again. Nukes would be a last resort, or a response to nuke attack, at best. Academically speaking.
Pffft.
We won’t even use a nuke to seal off the underwater oil gusher off the coast which now threatens our shorelines, much less set one off against our mortal enemies in the ME. Why, we might hurt someone and bring international condemnation doing that!

Actually, there are some terrorist elements that are counting on an “open season” on muslims in the US. Beck has previously discussed “The Perfect Day” (as they called it) scenario planned by terrorists involving Beslan style attacks on American schools. Part of their goal was to cause such anger in the general public, there would be raging mobs dragging muslims through the streets. This (in their view) would be broadcast across the globe and incite muslims worldwide to join a massive jihad to destroy the US once and for all.
They'll issue special licenses to buy propane tanks for the grill. They'll cost $500 a piece.
