Report: Attack on Jindal Aide and Boyfriend Politically Motivated (Beaten for wearing Palin buttons)

Joe Brown and Allee Bautsch

Allee Bautsch, chief campaign fundraiser for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and her boyfriend Joe Brown, were savagely beaten Friday night in New Orleans after leaving a Republican party fundraising dinner by a group of thugs who reportedly targeted the couple because they were wearing Sarah Palin pins.

Bautch's leg was broken and Brown incurred a broken jaw and nose as well as a concussion.

The Hayride reports that a source who visited Bautsch at the hospital the day after the attack says they were told the couple was attacked for wearing Palin buttons:

Two people at the Brennan’s event have now confirmed that the protest had largely broken up by the time it ended, but we also understand from someone who visited Allee Bautsch in the hospital Saturday morning that she and Brown were followed and attacked expressly because they had Palin pins on (she heard one of the attackers say “Let’s get them, they have Palin pins on” – so the attack WAS politically motivated as its victims understood it. It was not a mugging, it was not an argument gone wrong and it was not a bar fight.

The story of a Republican and her boyfriend being viciously attacked for wearing Palin buttons has yet to make national headlines, unlike say, unfounded rumors of nasty words being said by Tea Party protesters.

Bautch’s picture indicates a big husky strong individual who should have been easily able to handle a 6’1” skinny guy. Maybe all of them jumped him at once and used brass knucks or something explaining the broken jaw and nose.

Oh, please. I don't have time to go hunting links to satisfy your curiosity. This is from bits and pieces garnered over several years following much of the debate about the COE's supposed failures since Katrina, and was frequently TV snippets.

I'll ask ONE question of you instead. Exactly why is it, that the means and structures designed, built, and maintained by the COE over the entire rest of the the Mississippi valley (and many other places...including the rest of Louisiana) work just fine, with the only significant failure happening in the immediate New Orleans area??

Any argument about whether the Army Corps of Engineers or "the locals" do a better job of building and maintaining levees is pointless.

Here is Article I, Section 8 of the US Constitution, defining what the Federal Government is authorized to do:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings; — And

Conspicuously absent is "Build levees to keep the ocean out of New Orleans".

Yes. A substantial part of the US Army Corps of Engineers budget goes to keeping people who insist on living below sea level dry.

You just don’t know what you’re talking about. The Army Corps and their contractors “upgraded” from 2000-2005 virtually every canal wall which crumbled in 2005. Maybe if the locals were more successful in stopping the Corps, as you incorrectly and falsely claim, the Federal Flood wouldn’t have happened.

I would agree with you that the Constitution does not authorize the US Army to flood New Orleans. But they did, so the federal government is liable.

(I suspect the US Army Corps’ manipulation of US waterways was originally thought to be a part of “building post roads.”)

So, here you're still advocating that the US Army should still be in charge of the levees. You just want some amorphous undefined additional tax penalty levied on the locals. Presumably you'd want additional taxes everywhere the US Army builds levees? Regardless, that still leaves the US Army liable for flooding the city (up to 3 ft above sea level btw) with their shitty canal walls. $1 trillion please, thank you drive thru.

Thanks for admitting you have no documentation for your false claims.

Your question is a good one. It is the kind of question that would be answered in a trial with full discovery, etc. What is the name of your family friend, the Army engineer? If he was involved in building those canal walls, we should be putting him on trial for criminal negligence and manslaughter. Then we can get your question answered!

Claims not false. The reference is/was to a TV news story reported just a few days after Katrina. I specifically remember the story, because I was totally shocked with the concrete wall "levee" that was put in. The story said that the original design was to have an earthen berm behind the concrete to prevent "splash undercutting" if the concrete was overtopped. Residents didn't want their homes torn down to allow room for the berm, so they were forced to go with the cement "splash pad" behind the concrete. Which it turns out was not enough.

The mans name was Rivers Kent. A great engineer and a great guy. But you'll play hell putting him on trial, because he has been dead for twenty-plus years. Probably after effects to the time he spent in a German POW camp, you asshole.

Yes, the Army Corps was feeding the television BS spin immediately the Federal Flood. The people they drowned were too busy to get their PR guys to call their friends at the networks.

Next time you seance up your engineer source; ask him about the very recent work the Army Corps and their contractors had done on their “Category 3” canal floodwalls, which had somehow always managed to hold in much stronger winds for almost 100yrs, since the city built them in the first place.
