and while we are at it Italians should abandon Venice.
That’s up to them; I don’t care as long as I don’t have to pay for flood control over there.
I left the day before this happened..stayed on Dauphin tween St Louis and Toulouse....Audubon Cottages...with my wife and 3 youngest
almost ate at Brennans that morning when we left
Quarter was much better this time than last when there was a basketball tourney there and riff raff was everywhere
did not know anarchists were there but realize this doesn’t sound like a mugging
have they described the perps....the victims that is?
this get rid of NOLA notion some of you guys have here is ugly
I don’t necessarily want to get rid of NOLA, I just don’t want to be perpetually on the hook for keeeping the ocean out of some place it periodically wants to go.
One idea I’ve seen for rebuilding that makes some sense is to get rid of all the houses that are currently below sea level, and replacing them with apartments/condos on pilings that put the living space above sea level, with parking underneath.
That way, in a hurricane, people can drive away, and if it floods nothing significant is damaged.
You’re not answering the question. Would you have supported Gov. Blanco & the La. National Guard seizing the levees by force from the US Army in 2004, yes or no?
If your answer is no, then you’re obligated to support the FedGov paying the full cost of everything it destroyed when the US Army’s levees spontaneously disintegrated in Category 1/2 winds.
Any other answer leaves you exposed as a crazed genocidalist.
That’s a silly question and I’m not answering it.
What good would it have done to have seized the levees in 2004?
Even if I supported that, how does it make me a “crazed genocidalist”?
To this day, many republicans, in their zeal to bash democrats and defend Bush, refuse to concede that the response to Katrina was a failure at all levels of government. In addition, they refuse to admit or recognize the Army Corps of Engineers’ culpability for this disaster. People need to understand that in New Orleans, Katrina was never a natural disaster, but a man-made one.
Maybe she meant Galveston.
“Again, when exactly do you think should Louisiana should have demanded the US Army stop building levess? Would you have supported Gov. Blanco seizing the levees from the US Army by force in 2004?”
What an amazingly nutty post. How about you people pay for your OWN levees if you want to live below sea level?
The "hair in the eyes" thing is camoflage.
Do you know another way the State of Louisiana could have paid for their own levees? Do you think the US Army would hand them over willingly?
You apparently support the US Army killing thousands of its own citizens with no liability or consequences. Smells like genocide to me.
Right in line with Obama’s new policy on assassinating Americans, btw.
You apparently expect the US Army to come to NOLA and “kiss the hurt boo-boo” and “make the bad man go away”.
That is the EXACT cartoon I was thinking of when I wrote that...
Thank you!!! One of my all time favorite Loony Tunes (or was it a “Merrie Melody”??)
Yer a good man, ol’ Charlie Martel...Hammer of the Franks...!
Port cities tend to be limited in that regard.
God gave humans brains for a reason. Too bad we dont use that gift more often.
Oh, I agree - completely.
Naw, I only expect the US Army Corps of Engineers to pay for the trillion dollars in damage they inflicted, and for the persons and contractors involved to be put on trial for criminal negligence and manslaughter and thrown in prison.
If you don’t, you’re simply advocating genocide against Americans.
(It would be a great bonus if the US Army ceded control of the levees to the State of Louisiana, or anyone else that could do a better job building piles of mud than the US Army did. Maybe a gaggle of retarded monkeys.)
