Joe Brown and Allee Bautsch
Allee Bautsch, chief campaign fundraiser for Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and her boyfriend Joe Brown, were savagely beaten Friday night in New Orleans after leaving a Republican party fundraising dinner by a group of thugs who reportedly targeted the couple because they were wearing Sarah Palin pins.
Bautch's leg was broken and Brown incurred a broken jaw and nose as well as a concussion.
The Hayride reports that a source who visited Bautsch at the hospital the day after the attack says they were told the couple was attacked for wearing Palin buttons:
Two people at the Brennans event have now confirmed that the protest had largely broken up by the time it ended, but we also understand from someone who visited Allee Bautsch in the hospital Saturday morning that she and Brown were followed and attacked expressly because they had Palin pins on (she heard one of the attackers say Lets get them, they have Palin pins on so the attack WAS politically motivated as its victims understood it. It was not a mugging, it was not an argument gone wrong and it was not a bar fight.
The story of a Republican and her boyfriend being viciously attacked for wearing Palin buttons has yet to make national headlines, unlike say, unfounded rumors of nasty words being said by Tea Party protesters.
thanks for posting this. And to think I was going to N’Awlins for a 3 day weekend!
No, I think not if the spirit of the hate crimes laws is interpreted according to the intent of the founders of those laws. The hate crime laws are intended to shut down conservative ideas or anything that threatens leftist visions of Utopia. These conservatives wearing Palin pins clearly incited the attack by the public display of the Palin pins. /sarc
Left a restaurant last night and saw a car with a Palin sticker on it. No Romney or Ron Paul stickers though. And I'd be willing to bet the car's owner was not paid to display the sticker.
*ping*
Serious times. Only one side is violent and it’s not our Tea Party(s). We’re not responsible or associated with fringe groups, but their side is a bundled mess of union thugs, Marxists, Communists, anarchists and malcontents.
>> What kind of punk would go after anyone wearing a political button? <<
Crazy anarchist kids. They seem usually to hang out in Seattle. But NOLA apparently has a contingent as well.
May God protect us from what's ahead. Resist!
Thanks for the ping, Laz.

No. I have stated a crime was committed. What remains to be seen is whether it was based on a Palin pin and the ‘let’s get them’ phrase.
I hope the cameras will at the very least show the perps who did this. What remains to be seen is whether it was based on Palin hate.
I haven't heard Rush mention it either.
It appears that the Governor’s office is being very careful in its statements. At this point, there seems to be scarcely any corroboration from an authoritative source. If the stories are true, local talk-radio will pick it up.
Unfortunately, the local police has been under a lot of deserved criticism lately. As a result, they will be reluctant to involve themselves unless the evidence is rock-solid. Even then, the Chief of Police is on his way out, and may well decide it’s not worth the grief.
Nothing on FNC or Rush. I think both are waiting for the NOPD’s formal announcement. I hope Hannity goes with the story.
You will not hear about this EXCEPT on the Internet and maybe Conservative talk Radio.
Thanks for letting us know.
They were hurt badly. This is no joke.
You mean, 'ATROCITY', don'tcha? These kinds of things are ATROCITIES, NOT tragedies. Big difference.
Hannity may cover it first. I’m surprised, though, that Rush hasn’t even mentioned it.
Put the first couple down and you'll be seeing little of the others except their heels. Their kind are cowards.
