A real sign of hyperinfation can be found in products on the shelf here and there in retail establishments. For example, let's take saline solution nose spray. At Wal-Mart, about two years ago, a 3 oz. bottle was 94 cents. Then, it jumped within the past year to $1.94. Yesterday, while looking at the same bottle, the price was $2.98. And, that's just for a little salt in water! Don't come back at me by saying that's just one item. A LOT of things are beginning to jump up in price. Leave your own examples here via commentary.
The only things I really see fluctuate (rise) in price is dog food. Not too long ago I remember Purina Dog Chow being $11.68 for a medium sized bag. Now it’s $14.96.
I spend at least $40 every time I walk into a grocery store. Sometimes that seems like a steal for what I’m buying, sometimes I hang my head and wonder where it went. That’s why I’ve started frequenting many grocery stores and find the best price for things. Our local Giant Eagle has great BOGO deals on meats and cheese almost every week. Sometimes Rite Aid has the best deals for shampoos and soaps. When they do, I stock up and freeze things or buy an extra bottle of shampoo.
I only buy things at Wal-Mart that I can’t get in one stop shopping at other places now.
Seems like when gas prices start rising, so does the cost of milk. I was buying a gallon about 3 months ago for $2.79 and it is now $3.09.
A woman I know bought a spare house for $35k about 3 yrs ago, trying to sell it now for $25k, got no takers — and it’s a good sturdy house in a low-crime, low-tax town. When you can’t sell a house like that for peanuts, things are alarmingly bad.
Fine. Don't believe me. The damp weather comming this year is gonna hurt.
I have noticed that too. We are in a lot of trouble folks. If the Deathcare passes, it will get even worse.
Bread is over $3.00 for anything that will actually hold meat or PB.
Haven’t priced bananas this week. Will do so today.
Bread is crazy. Not sure why, grain is up but not that much and the bread is usually made in the local area. Two years ago they were blaming energy prices but that cannot be it now. NG is down
My Jack Daniels went from $19. couple of years ago to 21
I’ve found an 8 to 1 mixture works better, you get an ammonia-like sensation with too much soda.
1 cup of uniodized salt to 1 Tbsp baking soda.
Mix 1 tsp per 8 oz of water.
Blue Bell Ice Cream in Texas is still 1/2 gallon.
Wow. The only bacon I see priced that low, looks like they peeled it off an albino. Anywhere I look for lean bacon, it's about $4, often more.
For the record, plain water works for me
It cost more because it is now more popular. Don’t ya know?
Where do you live in Georgia? I live in Austell and paid $1.99 for a gallon of milk Tuesday. It’s been that price here in Austell all winter.
As an aside, does anyone else’s Wal-Mart have absolutely horrible looking produce? For the past 6 months, the celery has looked gangly and the iceberg lettuce heads are soft as a pillow. I don’t know where they get their produce, but it can’t all be locally because everywhere else I shop has great looking produce. I didn’t know if maybe it was just my Wal-Mart.
A lot of food prices moved up during the crude oil price run-up to $147.00 during 2007 and 2008, and I’ve only noticed a few that came back down a small amount. Items like mayonnaise and cooking oil, and flour and meal jumped 50% or so are and are still at that level.
Just one of the ways in which we are paying for the so-called “green fuels” whether we use them or not.
LOL.
Odd, the store brand white bread here in central PA is still about $1. Sometimes less. You can also get decent rye, ww, italian, etc. for way less than $3.
Ouch... I’ve heard others say that as well - tried it - it HURTS...
My local grocers thought they figured it correctly, I’d spend more money driving to Texas for an extra pint than buying their overpriced product.
I won’t do either.
