African-Americans are extremely supportive of President Obama, but their enthusiasm appears to have dramatically dropped from earlier this year, according to a new national poll.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey, released Tuesday, also indicates that Obama's presidency appears to have made blacks more optimistic about race relations, but less than one in five believe the new president has ushered in a new era of race relations in the country.
More than nine in 10 blacks questioned in the poll approve of the job Obama's doing in the White House, far higher than 42 percent of whites who approve of his performance as president.
But when asked how they personally feel about Obama's presidency, only 42 percent of black respondents say they're thrilled, with nearly half of those questioned saying they are happy but not thrilled.
The 42 percent who are thrilled is down from 61 percent in January, when Obama was inaugurated.

[CNN Polling Director Keating Holland] added, "Not surprisingly, whites are less supportive of Obama, although for a notable number of whites, their negative view of the president is due to the perception that he's not been liberal enough."
The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted December 16-20, with 1,160 adult Americans, including 259 African-Americans and 786 whites, questioned by telephone.

RE: “Mark Steyn (filling in for Rush) asked, Where are all the Obama bumper stickers?
*************
The stickers are still on MANY vehicles in Los Angeles. I see them everywhere I go, and especially in my little leftist ‘burb’ just a few miles beyond the media districts of Burbank, Universal City and Studio City.
m f-er isn’t paying my lectric bill.
LOL......and this surprises who? They continue to vote for the biggest losers . . Jackson-Lee, Waters, Conyers, Cleaver. You get what you vote for.
They have shot their wad, though. They'll never vote in the numbers they voted in ‘08. Never.
I don't see many at all. Contrast that with the Kerry bumper stickers which I saw all over for years.
Race before country means the undie bomber will be allowed to slide
A Black prince from the old country can not be a terrorist.
They all move to my neighborhood in Sacramento. I'm convinced it's 75% SEIU, CA state workers. They also have yard signs: "Union Worker and Proud of it: SEIU".
It's an alternative universe. Really, really weird.
they think I'm a dangerous freak...just because I displayed a McCain/Palin sign last fall.
I'm certain they would vandalize my property if they didn't fear me so much.
As more and more African-Americans realize that Obamao is not only the first black president, but also the worst president in America’s history, they will regret ever getting duped by him. It’s sad.
Just so people know who you are talking about:
Intensity of Obama support will be way down in 2012.
“Not surprisingly, whites are less supportive of Obama, although for a notable number of whites, their negative view of the president is due to the perception that he’s not been liberal enough.”
Geez. Can he be more liberal?
Well, you have to admit, the pillbox with machine gun on the front lawn does give one pause. ;)
Hmmm - that's 22 percent who are A-As.
The real percentage is closer to 13% I believe.
Wonder why they skewed the sampling so much, eh?
I thought it was up his leg.
The first place I check every morning is the Rasmussen Daily Presidential tracking poll - eagerly awaiting the day it falls past -20. I figure that in the next day or two the three day moving avg will make that happen after people turn thumbs down on his stonewalling of the âHeck of a job there Icompatonoâ after the panty bomber did his stuff.
