Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry died Thursday morning after he was seriously hurt during what police are calling a "domestic situation" in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday.
The team's receiver fell out of the back of a pickup truck Wednesday during what police described as a domestic dispute with his fiancee. Henry was found in the road about eight miles north of downtown Charlotte "apparently suffering life-threatening injuries," according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. Police spokesman Robert Fey said officers were stationed near the 26-year-old Henry's hospital room.

How do you know that? Do you know of his personal relationship with God?
Dang! I hope I never run into trouble. But if I do, I’m hiring you!
Considering where he was?? yea.. He did SEEM to calming down a bit...
However... once he got injured, it would appear some back-sliding occurred... Really, a tragic situation. Such a waste of God-given talent.
Athletes are pampered all their lives. The result is a sense of entitlement based on a flawed premise.
I can throw a pass, make a basket, or throw a strike, therefore, I am special and the rules don’t apply to me.
Kind of like our politicians.
Very sad. Often with tragic consequences.
That said, one can’t ignore The Donald. Cheated on his wife with a bimbo. The bimbo cheated on him. He is now married to a young woman who dollar signs in her future.
Pathetic sense of values.
You are correct, self defensive is an affirmative defense. She would have to show fear, only if he died as a consequence of an attempt on her part to do him harm. If she claims that his death was incidental to her attempt to flee, the burden of proof is shifted back to the prosecution. I suggest they not invoke self-defense.
I believe when the team brought him back in 2007 he was told this is it. No more chances. He straightened up after that ultimatum. It’s tragic. My heart goes out to his children.
Like everything else, it depends on the woman. Henry got in a lot of trouble, so it’s not surprising the women he hung around were wild, also. I remember a few years ago, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes burned down Andre Rison’s house after they got in a fight. She also wrecked two cars in front of his place. It was about a million dollars worth of damage in one tantrum.
If you’re trying to get away from someone, and they jump in the back of your truck ...
Well, that’s their tough luck and the grand jury or jury will probably see it that way, too.
What a dumbass.
Rip, Mr. Henry
I thought he climbed out of the cab and into the back.
I'd be surprised. For one thing, outside of football, Chris Henry is not a big name, and even in football, he was more noted for his off field antics than his performance.
Tiger Woods is one of those people like Anna Nicole Smith. You know who they are, even if you'd prefer not to.
We were in the rural West. I suspect 17 is not that young in rural areas.
12 year old moms, that must be urban. The last day (!) I did long-term subbing in an inner-city school, I met with the Principal to inform him that HE could have that 6th grade class the next day, as I was not returning. I had sent 1/2 of the class to his office — ‘I will just keep the ones who want to learn,’ I told him.
He told me — “Little (Rat!) Johnnie’s parents let little girls come over and spend the weekend with him. What can I do in a few hours?”
This was 20 years ago, the day I decided that street walking was easier than urban classroom teaching.
“jumping into the back of the pickup is a bad idea”
Jumping on the hood is an even worse idea, saw that once... luckily it was only a 30 foot roll across the lawn.
I would be worried about Reckless Homicide if this was merely a tantrum on her part rather than her fleeing for her life. The law is going to argue that she should have stopped when she saw him in the truck if she wasn’t in danger.
Athletes are pampered in the same sense that race horses are. They’re also quite disposable.
While there are a few athletes, like Kurt Warner, who have been thrown on the scrap heap, persevered, and overcome, the majority of athletes show their physical gifts at a young age, and are cultivated and insulated from the pressures most people face.
That’s not to say they don’t face pressure on the field. While it’s true they’re playing a kid’s game, if making a catch means the difference between a million dollars a year and getting cut, there’s a lot more pressure.
Many athletes never develop the skills necessary to deal with other aspects of life.
Prayers for his three young children, his family, friends, and teammates.
Fixed it.
But, I thought the feminists said only men commit domestic violence.
