Quite an explosive leak! I wonder how this will affect things? It is certainly a thuggish and dangerous thing for Obama to play with National Security over this craptacular idea of socialized medicine. Quite a desperate move.
According to a Senate aide, the White House is now threatening to put Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force Base on the BRAC list if Nelson doesn’t fall into line. Offutt Air Force Base employs some 10,000 military and federal employees in Southeastern Nebraska. As our source put it, this is a “naked effort by Rahm Emanuel and the White House to extort Nelson’s vote.” They are “threatening to close a base vital to national security for what?” asked the Senate staffer.
Indeed, Offutt is the headquarters for US Strategic Command, the successor to Strategic Air Command, and not by accident. STRATCOM was located in the middle of the country for strategic reasons. Its closure would be a massive blow to the economy of the state of Nebraska, but it would also be another example of this administration playing politics with our national security.
So much for the idea of Obama trying to save jobs and improve the economy!
Without Nelson’s vote, since all Republicans are still in line to oppose this, Reid is still left with 59 votes. So, some arm twisting is taking place. Nelson doesn’t want this bill to fund abortions so he is now being threatened, and national security along with him. How shameful this would be if Democrats felt shame.

The Obama administration has little left to use for leverage. Why not national security? After all, if we’re going to bring terrorists into Illinois, what does it matter if we put the US Strategic Command on wheels for a few years?

But SAC does not exist anymore, except in a sort of a abreviated form as Global Strike Command at Barksdale AFB.
However US Strategic Command, is at Offutt and uses USSTRATCOM or just STRATCOM as it's acronym.
As you can see, there is still a bit of SAC in STRATCOM, along with a Naval Motif of course.
After contemplating your quote for a long time, I’m increasingly of the opinion that many who protect these hives of scum and villainy such as Secret Service, FBI, etc are actually enablers of such policies. When was the last time any of them turned in their badges for refusing to carry out any of Obama’s wishes? If they view Obama as the lawful POTUS (more like POS to me), what prevents them from just arresting all of us should this travesty pass?
And I could say the same thing about the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Except these guys DON’T stay bought. They are up for bids at all times and they go with the highest bidder EVERY time.

Well its the end of the Dem majority whether the Bill passes or not. Its a horrible piece of wealth redistribution socialist $hit.The Buill is not about helath care, its about control of the electorate.
They pass this bill and they will have a revolt of the citizenry. Even the Republicans do not seem to realize this, they are so out of touch.
Not for much longer. We are being goaded and prodded and stuck in the ribs at virtually every turn. It was getting nearly intolerable before Bush. But what happened under Bush was that we were lulled away from what had gone before and what the clinton administration had wanted to do all along.
Well it’s ALL back now with a vengeance and I will never forgive GW Bush for ushering in this new wave of terror on We the People with the TARP bill. Before he left office, he threw open wide the door to our treasury to obama and company. And don’t try to convince me that he did it without realizing exactly what he was doing before he went right out and bought hisself a 3.5 MILLION dollar home that sure doesn’t resemble any ranch I have ever seen. He has an MBA. He knew. And he still hasn’t said anything to challenge obama. Cheney has. Why is that?
I am sure there will be more things to come. In his holinesses view, if this passes, all the other things fall into place, that is, control! If this fails, so does his presidency so I think that he will do whatever it takes. He’s going to take a gamble and thug it out. If it passes, there will be no way to touch him. It seems this is the keystone to his plan.
Nelson should play hardball and JOIN the Republican Party!!!!
