Hmmmm...the whole point of BRAC is to prevent this kind of political extortion. Sounds like an empty threat since even if Barry and his thugs wanted to BRAC Offutt (which they won’t since it is central to our strategic forces), Congress would have to approve it.

Even the reporter from the Weekly Standard who broke the story said that Nelson “had” to deny the threat. The reporter, “Mike,” was on Glenn Beck’s radio show and said he was 100% sure the story is TRUE.
Wow, I didn’t doubt that they would lie.
We need to take action against these traitors and vote them out.
I think he should do what you said..or just change parties and tell everyone why he did it.

We’ll just say decades and decades of very deep and incredible facilities and leave it at that. I can’t say more, but believe me it is amazing. It is much more valuable than the Pentagon or White House.
Offutt AFB is where Bush went on 9/11. There is a reason for that! He and the military can do anything from there to defend the country.
This is no ordinary facility that decays over time. This facility is constantly being upgraded because it is maintained to control the entire military and government system from this one location. It is not even remotely outdated!!!
Your general statement might be true about a majority of locations, but not Offutt. The idiot who made the threat to close Offutt AFB doesn’t have the slightest clue about the command and control of our country during time of crisis.

Alberta’s Child...Your argument has no merit. The BRAC was appointed by the President(Bush) and Congress. President Clinton signed the closure order. The conspiracy if there was one...was that Jim Courter the head of the commission was a former N.J Republican congressman. He asked for Plattsburgh Air Force base to be reviewed, contrary to the Air Force’s position. The AF wanted to make Plattsburgh the east coast mobility hub. Rep Courter had ambitions to run for governor of NJ. How better to impress the voters of NJ then save their base at McGuire. Who do you trust more with defense? A NJ congressman or the DOD? Also you state that fuel was an issue being barged to Plattsburgh. Your mistaken no barges were EVER stopped because of ice and Plattsburgh had an alternate means of resupply, by train. I speak from experience as was the Non Commissioned Officer in charge of Plattsburgh Fuels/POL from 1984-1995. The Air Force made the right choice, Jim Courter corrupted the process.
