Unreal. Team Obama may allow US soldiers to be tried in the Hague for war crimes. The Wall Street Journal reported, via Jihad Watch:
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed great regret in August that the U.S. is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC). This has fueled speculation that the Obama administration may reverse another Bush policy and sign up for what could lead to the trial of Americans for war crimes in The Hague.
The ICCs chief prosecutor, though, has no intention of waiting for Washington to submit to the courts authority. Luis Moreno Ocampo says he already has jurisdictionat least with respect to Afghanistan.
Because Kabul in 2003 ratified the Rome Statutethe ICCs founding treatyall soldiers on Afghan territory, even those from nontreaty countries, fall under the ICCs oversight, Mr. Ocampo told me. And the chief prosecutor says he is already conducting a preliminary examination into whether NATO troops, including American soldiers, fighting the Taliban may have to be put in the dock.
We have to check if crimes against humanity, war crimes or genocide have been committed in Afghanistan, Mr. Ocampo told me. There are serious allegations against the Taliban and al Qaeda and serious allegations about warlords, even against some who are connected with members of the government. Taking up his inquiry of Allied soldiers, he added, there are different reports about problems with bombings and there are also allegations about torture.
It was clear who the targets of these particular inquiries are but the chief prosecutor shied away from spelling it out.
Asked repeatedly whether the examination of bombings and torture allegations refers to NATO and U.S. soldiers, Mr. Ocampo finally stated that we are investigating whoever commits war crimes, including the group you mentioned.
Now he’s got me REALLY mad.
It is only but a short time until the guns are again pointed at Fort Sumter....who among us will be this chapter’s Edmund Ruffin...
That is a different situation.
US military personnel are under the jurisdiction of the local authorities in foreign countries if they break the law there. I knew of several sailors who were caught with drugs by the Italian authorities, and were still in jail there on my second cruise back through there.
You’re a “glass is half empty and leaking” kind of guy, aren’t you?
Are you saying you don’t have that much faith in The People?
Good. But I was saying that the party crashers were not a true security breach. O did not want them on the official guest list but wanted them to show up, be admitted, and then cause a little scandal to take our attention away from the ICC disaster.
I have been on here calling for civil disobedience , strikes and sit ins for 6 months now. I’ve gotten little response. I’m stunned that America will got down hard without even lifting a finger to save ourselves. What a disgrace.
Ok then , what will you do ?
Do not doubt that there are those in the military who REALLY know what’s going on ...and have discussed a plan already...
I heard something VERY interesting the other day that ,for now, I;ll keep to myself.
Wanna bet? I can see Casey doing it, no sweat.
Yadda yadda yadda. Everybody on this forum is constantly threatening to revolt if this administration and/or congress do this one thing or that one thing or one more thing.
Nobody ever does a damn thing.
Gen. Casey cares more about upsetting ragheads than he does dead American soldiers. I don’t think he’d hesitate for one minute to turn our guys over to the ICC if zero told him to.
As for the U.S. Navy, there are three seals being court-martialed because some raghead terrorist complained about a fat lip. And never forget Murtha’s prosecutorial jihad against our marines.
Please don’t tell me our generals and military leaders wouldn’t sandbag our service men and women. They already have.
You are exactly right. The ignorance is vast and entrenched in the culture, thanks to the slimestream news media, the despicable entertainment industry and our worse than pathetic educational system.
I’d love it if our guys would just refuse to roll out some morning and tell their commanders, “We’re done. We’re not working for this bastard or this congress anymore.”
I’d back ‘em 100% but they have too much honor to ever do that, unless WE just flat out told them, “Hey, its OK.”
But still better than having McCain as president!
Have those SEALS actually confessed to bloodying up the crreps lip, or is their other evidence alreayd out. A lot of things can bloody a lip.
Job One is to make him a "lame _uck" on 11/2/2010.
Insert any letter you choose at the blank. I know what my choice is.
Only a third of the population favored the continental government during the revolution. It may come to that if this crap continues.
