Breaking: Palin Supports Hoffman
The Weekly Standard ^ | October 22, 2009 08:17 PM | John McCormack

Posted on 10/22/2009 5:47:30 PM PDT by avg_freeper

THE WEEKLY STANDARD just received a statement from Sarah Palin endorsing conservative Doug Hoffman for Congress:

The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.

The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.

Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."

The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.

Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate that more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.

Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

You can help Doug by visiting his official website below and joining me in supporting his campaign:

This statement will be on Palin's Facebook page soon.

I’m always against a third party candidate for all the enumerated reasons. And I’d rather have a “moderate” Republican than a Democrat.

BUT - this is a special case. This is a COMPLETELY tone-deaf bunch of Repubs who tried to foist a total lefty on us. In this case, screw the seat, but teach the lesson.

We WILL oppose your dumb choices, and we WILL send out money directly to Conservative candidates.

We all know it already, but the sh*t will hit the fan soon, when the extent to which Repub fundraising has dried up becomes known. Steele will have to be dumped.

You do realize Abe Lincoln was a third party candidate, right? Sometimes an institution becomes so overgrown with the entanglements of it’s own hubris there is no redeeming it. Think Martin Luther. Time to start over.

Didn't know Abe was a third party candidate. I do think attempting to take back the GOP with these Take back the GOP ideas is the first step.

If That doesn't work, then Conservative Party. Just don't want another Perot situation and then another Clinton/Obama win.

There’s no need for you two to insult each other.

The bottom line is that Duncan Hunter is not the only conservative in the country who has the ability to be President. He is, however, the only guy ran on a conservative platform in a year where conservatives were hungry for leadership and came in behind “uncommitted” in a primary.

He is not a viable candidate, and there’s no amount of appeal to principle or calling people “cupcake” that will change that. We can and must find another conservative to back.

SB, you are so right.

Pissy has not only accused me of being a RINO but in another thread has accused me of not being pro-life. All because I pointed out the fact his messiah, 1% Hunter, has zero chance of being the candidate.

For the record, like Rush I will defend myself and my conservative & pro-life beliefs when falsely attacked.

I like putting the hysterical palin worshippers in their place. And this one is a cupcake. And a lying sack of poop, based on its last message.

This kind of self seeking behaviour by Palin only gets Democrats elected.

You're full of crap!

I'm starting to really like you. :-)

Great news! The party leadership might not understand what conservatism means and the value of it but we the people do.
The grass roots is no longer thinking small. We are not just Virgnians, Californians, Texans, or what ever state to which we belong we are American conservatives and we stand together or fall together. We can only win when we commit to supporting the conservative message of liberty, responsibility, and individual sovereignty where ever it rises. These races are about money and whether our candidates lose or win when they run on conservatism and when they are speaking up and standing up for our American values they are spreading a message in the wilderness so that where today there is hostile liberal dominated territory there will be seeds of conservatism for the future.

Giving up and giving in and going along is not how you win. It is how we lose our souls and forfeit the future and promises of one nation under God.

This is the clarion call, she has paved the way to chuck aside the RINO’s, to create a new party if the GOP does not rise up and remove Steele and the other one-horned creatures, and to come out swinging before her book tour.

Bandwagon is starting up, get on board.

Hunter~been there and done that. Clearly, that dog won’t hunt. He is as appealing as Fred Thompson and as exciting as plain toast. Candidates like him only serve one purpose which is to make a loser like McCain seem acceptable.

Shouldn’t you ping him before you call him a liar, pissant?

Newfreep, can you back up your accusation in post 325?

“The dont complain when Dems eventually pass the public option with their expanded Congressional majority while you are teaching Republicans a lesson.”

What makes you think if Dede got in she would vote against the public option or with the Republicans against the health care bill? Her viewpoint on most subjects is with the Democrats. Having a Republican who has an R by their name but votes with the Democrats, doesn’t do much good.

Well, I’ll see if he’s really a liar as you claim. But in any case, I won’t be coddling any members of the 1% brigade, either.

Thanks for giving us your opinion, Mr. Steele. BTW, your head was a little too shiny the last time you were on the tube...make sure you bring that up to the makeup person next time.

Everyone here can support whoever they want. I’m sure I’ll be hearing the same tired arguments I heard about Hunter again if he runs. The kind of arguments that led directly to a three headed stinking RINO being the frontrunner chosen by the media, and a cadaver actually winning the nomination.

BTW, how telling is this?

That “Going Rouge” book was written by two editors at The Nation. Now, imagine, if Sarah is the big joke the libs claim she is, and Romney and the Huckster are going to wipe the walls with her in the primaries, why are they targeting her at book length and saying squat about Huck and Romney? Seen any books lately that are about how everything
Huck says on his show is wrong?

The libs dream of having one of those guys being the nominee. Is Sarah the one. That’s likely. Are Romney and Huckabee going to be total disasters? That’s certain.
