Promoting Capitalism: A Love Story, Michael Moore is beating the drum of his Catholicism in a way that he hasn't previously. Check out this clip from Moore's appearance last night on Sean Hannity's TV show.
When Hannity suggests possible political labels for Moore, the filmmaker responds: "Christian." Then Moore quizzes the Fox News host, a fellow Catholic, on the last time he's been to mass. Trying to out-church him, Moore implies that Hannity is fibbing about having attended mass last weekend.
It's no accident that Moore's new openness about his religious faith is coming now, after the Democratic Party has spent five years urging its members to speak up about their faith to combat the conventional wisdom that the GOP is more religion-friendly. That campaign has spilled over to the broader liberal movement in a big way. But if Moore, Barack Obama, and Nancy Pelosi are all spokespeople for the left's faith-friendliness, where's the national leader of the left's fast-growing secular wing?

This is a twisted reading of the scriptures.
Not that I disagree with your point that the gospel has been used - misinterpreted, IMO - for personal gain. That is painfully obvious.
“The only fragment of Scripture most lefties have memorized is Judge not lest ye be judged.”
________
We should all know that one. It’s pretty important.
You are RIGHT!!!! Two schmoos! or is it two schlmiels?
The most telling response to Marxist Christianity is that Jesus enjoined Christians to follow when he said “Whatever you do for thwe least of my Brothers, you do unto Me.” The you, while addressed to Christians was addressed to them as individuals not groups, empires, or governments. The You is decidedly singular in meaning. There is no place registered for any of us in God’s eyes because we have voted to take the wealth of others without their consent in order to do what we belioeve is God’s work
White people are why the West cannot kick the socialist habit. I don't understand the point you are trying to make.
The Gospels are rarely interpreted for personal gain — that would be too good to be true!
No, the Gospels are interpreted to encourage personal *sacrifice* — that’s why a rich man can’t get into heaven, we should turn the other cheek, ignore our families and follow the Lord, etc. etc. If I’m conceiving Christianity falsely, then Christians believe the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is an ignoble, wicked thing. But we both know this isn’t the case.
Given all the deceased and wounded Soldiers that Moore has defamed in order to get some cash for himself, I am surprised the worthless democrat bastard didn’t burst into flames at the entrance to the church.
Where does it say that?
It would not suprise me at all if Michael Moore went to Mass. However, you can either believe that some abortions are not the same thing as murder or you can be a Catholic, but not both.
Read the parable of the young rich man, Matthew 19:16-28.
Nowhere does he imply its a sin to be rich, that we should abandon our families, etc.
And apparently you've missed the point of his sacrifice on our behalf entirely. Thats not unusual - very many have.
he used to put stink bombs in the incense burners when he was an alter boy at St. John’s in Davison
Apparently Hannity has memorized it to: cf. the video at 0:58.

Moore’s a communist. Commies detest religion, especially Christianity.
He says it is difficult, not impossible. The young rich man was asking, obliquely, what he could give to Jesus in order to recieve eternal life. Jesus response was that it couldn’t be bought, but that by selling everything and giving it away he could accept the gift of eternal life without feeling like he “deserved” it by giving Jesus something.
The love of money, not money itself, is what Jesus was pointing out to the young man as the obstacle to salvation.
“And that we should consider others before ourselves. Does that offend you?”
I’m not a socialist. In many cases, we should consider ourselves before we consider others.
In fairness to JC, he does say to love others *as you love yourself*, so he’s not a pure altruist like Auguste Comte.
The reason socialism is so attractive to the world, the reason liberation theology, the reason communism have made so many inroads in society is due to mankind trusting in himself and not the One who set the universe in motion.
That's why a rich man won't be able to buy his way into heaven, he trusted in his wealth — not in the God who gave it to him. Hoarding wealth when good can be done to ease the burdens of others, is also a way of damming up the system of prosperity. We are to be alike a river flowing out to the nations.
Only socialists can be considerate spouses, good friends, and concerned citizens?
You make the democrats case against us.
I just got that same line from a Social Studies teacher I know, he is Mormon. I just shake my head and cry, because there is no talking to them. He actually had that screed on his blackboard.
