For about a year now there has been a great deal of debate about whether or not President Barack Obama is truly a natural born American citizen. According to the Constitution, Article 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born citizen…shall be eligible to the office of president.” The Obama campaign and administration have always claimed that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. A Certificate of Live Birth was presented by the Obama campaign showing that Obama is an American citizen[1]; however, Hawaiian law didn’t require Obama to actually have been born in Hawaii in order to obtain this registration.[2] This, among other things, has created a public outcry – from a group now referred to as “birthers” – for Obama to show his long form birth certificate, which would disclose information such as which hospital he was born in, who delivered him, etc. that would solidify the fact that he actually was born in America. The Obama campaign and administration have failed to present this document to anyone. Instead, they have been suppressing the issue using two tactics: hiring lawyers to defend him against the legal dilemma – such as lawyer Perkins Coie, who was paid $688,316[3] – and creating the ignorant propaganda, repeated by many liberals, that anyone who questions Obama’s eligibility is weird, crazy or racist. The liberal mainstream media has propagated the latter tactic through news broadcasts, such as Nightly News with Brian Williams, which incorrectly assert that Obama has proven his eligibility.[4]

However, I choose to hope it will be verified authentic...but we shall see. My major concern is the committee that passed HR3200, with amendments getting blue dogs on board, it was announced on FOX today refuse to release a copy online, or otherwise during Aug Recess...unbelievable. Is it possible to pass it without releasing what’s in new version??

My son was born at a civilian hospital in Germany. We were reassured that he was a natural born citizen. His birth certificate says, “US Citizen Born Abroad”.
I find it hard to believe that the thousands of military brats born to patriotic Americans on foreign soil would not be considered US Citizens in every sense of the word.
Now I *was* told that, at one time, my son *would’ve* been considered a “Dual Citizen” even though he was born to two American parents. The law was amended (I think it was in the 80’s) so that military brats could be considered legit in every sense of the word.
The problem with McCain was that he was born at a civilian hospital in Panama before that law went into effect.
I do believe that we’d have a big problem even if McCain won. I honestly don’t think he was Constitutionally qualified.

I was very reluctant early on regarding this BC
issue. If he was a natural born Citizen, great.
But if not, what have we here? A Constitutional
Catastrophe?

Most of us aren’t limited to one interest. It takes no time to support the guys looking into this and very little time to look at the pictures that they post on the Internet.
You spend more time arguing with supporters of the birthers than you should, you know.

Just let it go, for some of us this is fun. It really is like the $20 we spend on the 25 cent slot machines in Vegas once a year.

I think you want to make that “a citizen”, not necessarily a “natural born citizen”. There are OTHER TESTS for that “natural” part ~ see Wu v.
Third World birth certificates can be quite plain ~ the fact you can even get one proving yourself to be a person of very high status.
Absolutely ~ the “born here” deal in that decision relies on a three part test. You must run the test first.
I agree. But you are wasting your time on this crowd. Supposedly, if you don't beat the BC dead horse, you don't care about the Constitution. But if you make countless posts about it on FR, you are supposedly saving the Constitution, or...something...

It is not a Microsoft Word program — it is an old manual typewriter that some of us have used at one time. My Mom had one. Looks like a ribbon one where some of the letters are darker then others which comes from either not cleaning the keys or certain fingers strike the keys harder then others.
