I noticed something weird looking at all those photos on the Korean site. At least in his childhood, teen and young adult years, he is smiling in every photo in which he is completely surrounded by white people. When you get to the photos of him with blacks, the smile is totally gone and he looks unhappy, grim, lost or sullen.
But the fact that so few American citizens see the pissing on their Constitutional contract as important to their future tells me they no longer deserve to be the sovereigns ...
***Hence, my tagline which I’ve used for several months.
A Freeper seems to have found info about a fire in Harlow in Mariposa County, July 10-15, 1961, east of Santa Cruz:
http://www.mariposaresearch.net/HARLOWFIRE.html
http://www.sierrastar.com/111/story/45834.html
But after further checking, that’s about 150 miles away. But, the timeframe is close ...
Didn’t know that (my globe-trotting days were well after the 1960’s :-}). O was in Indonesia from sometime in 1967 to sometime in 1972. Since he was only 5 or 6 when they left the U.S. and he was young enough to be on Mom’s passport, maybe they got back before it had to be renewed at which time he would have been too old to be on hers and would have been required to apply for his own.
Here is a link to a big fire on Mt. Umunhum in the Santa Cruz area in 1961. However it is dated July 26. This link includes a picture of the mountain with a huge smoke cloud.

There were also articles in the Santa Cruz Sentinel dated July 20 and 21. I found them listed in a library of Santa Cruz history but I haven’t found the actual articles. There was also an article about a Scott’s Valley fire in mid-August. If Susan said she left “when the fires started” that would in my mind mean the Mt. Umunhum fire and that would put a significant dent into her memory of when she had her visit with Stanley.
sounds as if it was extinguished rather quickly...where was she when she saw the smoke?
LOL
That means that O and his mom could have left for Indonesia with one passport, hers, because he was under the age of 8. They were there for +/- 5 years. If she got a passport for the trip, then she had approx. three years before it expired. Barry was “either 5 or 6” (family history @ theObamaFile.com) when they left. Either way he was likely at least 8 when the renewal came up and would have had to get his own passport.
If by any chance mom got her passport earlier than just before leaving, it is possible that the renewal came up when Barry was under the age of 8 and could still be on mom’s passport so you would never find a separate U.S. one for him from that time period.
If Indonesia required the taking of their citizenship and the rejection of U.S. citizenship, would they have been likely to leave Indonesia on that country’s passport or one from the U.S. Or could they have had both... left using the former and arrived in the U.S. using the latter?
Does any of this matter?
Susan says she was on vacation in Santa Cruz, about 30 miles south of SFO, in summer 1961 and left when the fires started.
I see my problem. I'm an Aussie. Don't know where SFO is...LOL! Better stay out of it.
I just checked again for the other fire. The article was from the Santa Cruz Sentinel Aug. 13, 1961 and titled “Everyone Pitches In To Help Scotts Valley Fire Department”. That title does not necessarily mean it had something to do with a fire so I am thinking Susan was wrong about her dates.
SFO-Airline code for San Fransisco..
Just like if I wrote “SYD” or “AUK” you would probably understand the city.
Try:
California Disasters Since 1960:
I don’t see any Santa Cruz fires listed there for summer 1961. However the Santa cruz Sentinel had two articles for Mt. Umunhum for the 20 and 21 of July, “Umunhum Fire Rages Out of Control” and “Umunhum Blaze Roars Uncontrolled.”
No.
I do however distinctly recall his saying in some video/news clip "I grew up in Hawai'i."
"grew up in" but NOT "was born in."
How about in his books? I haven’t read them.
Well, he came back to Hawaii when he was about 10. I took my younger son to England when he was that same age because he was just out of a cast from a broken leg and I did not trust him to be in the care of his older siblings. I did not want ANY rough housing while his leg muscles, which had been confined in a cast for several weeks, strengthened. He is 4 years younger than Obama and this was around 1978. He had his own Passport. I still have it — expired, of course.
