This is the first official DitL of Sarah Palin thread. Much in the same tradition as the Daily Dose of Dubya, the Daily Dose of Sarah will focus on the activities of a specific day, chronicled with photos. Here are the game rules:
1. The official thread poster will post the photos. As always, please wait until all clear before posting any additional photos.
2. Debate is encouraged. Slams, slander and general 'makin' up crap' will not be tolerated. If you can't understand the difference between honest political debate and the other stuff, don't post.
3. Please keep the fawning to a minimum fellas. ;) The MSM has already objectified her. We want to focus on her conservative activism and love of country. Of course, a nice compliment is fine.
4. This thread is about Sarah Palin- not her family, and especially NOT her children. Take it elsewhere.

What is the trick? Where you want a "<" character, type "<" (lt = less-than) ...where you want a ">" character, type ">" (gt = greater-than) Both codes start with a "&" and end with a ";" -------------------

Glad I could help. :-)
IOW, is it possible to use any pic on the web (the link) and by adding a "command" or letters to that link reduce the "quality" (or size) of the picture? Without having to save the Pic to my PC, editing it and then placing it on my server service? which is a bit of a hassle.
This is something folks will have to be aware of before they get Picture-posting-happy and start posting very large pictures which is always an issue with dial-up lines. See my point?
You can only control the DISPLAYED size of an image, not its actual data content. To adjust the actual data size (read: download time) you must download, modify, save and re-post to the iNet.
To set the DISPLAYED size of an image, add modifiers to the <img tag like so:
<img src="URL GOES HERE" alt="OPTIONAL DESCRIPTION" width=XXX height=YYY> (width and height units are pixels)
<img src="http://www.rogersrants.com/uploads/RonaldReagan.jpg" alt="Ronald Reagan"> produces the full-sized image:
...while <img src="http://www.rogersrants.com/uploads/RonaldReagan.jpg" alt="Ronald Reagan - Small" width=200 height=143> produces this:
I am writing all this down furiously (ok, not really but I am copying and pasting)
Thank you.
Like most things, it's easy once you know how. :-)
Starting a new thread?
okay!@
FRmail in a moment to Rin to to request to be put on hte pinglist :o)
You're quite welcome.
If you REALLY want to learn some HTML, I highly recommend W3 Schools - HTML Tutorial. You can find pretty much anything you could ever want there.
You’ve got it! :)
WooHoo! I’m 4 Sarah!! Thanks for getting this rolling, rintense!
That’s a terrific pic, Nordie! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one.
Please add me to the ping list
Hi TC. I think some people might get annoyed if we discuss this here - even though this might benefit many here who want to post pictures and have some fun as long as the pictures are not huge in Kilo Bytes. Most pictures should be under 100KB (as in your large Reagan Pic which is only 57KB). or 200KB Max, if they have text to be read. At least that is my criteria.
IS THERE A PLACE TO talk about this other than here?... The HTML SANBOX probably, right?
Back to the issue, I think I understand what you are saying but not 100% sure. I see the two Reagan pictures, two difference 'sizes' (in dimensions), but the same amout of KBs for both! Interesting, I was not aware you could do that... But unfortunately impractical for our purpose becaue the whole point of changing the size of the picture is mostly to reduce the KBs.(Kilo Bytes), which is what slows down dial-up lines, and many people still have them.
BTW, what is "iNet?" Do you mean the Internet or something else? Perhaps we could put together a small tutorial for our friends here in Sarahs pad :)
That is correct. The data sent is the same for both. The smaller one is shrunk down by your browser because of the parameters of the tag.
But unfortunately impractical for our purpose becaue the whole point of changing the size of the picture is mostly to reduce the KBs.(Kilo Bytes), which is what slows down dial-up lines, and many people still have them.
Then the image must be downloaded, resized, saved, uploaded to the Internet (yes, that's what I meant by iNet) and posted.
HTML sandbox is the place to be for extended discussion/playing.
Clear enough. Thanks :)
Just caught up with emails, FReeppings, snail mail and everything else! Thanks rin, for putting this thread together. I love Sarah pics. And I miss Agent Frowny!
Hi rintense - I’m so glad you started this - I’m excited for Sarah to get out there and convert more and more people to her way of thinking.
I have seen the greatest poster for Palin. The background is all black with 2 names in white lettering, McCain and Palin underneath - then - the name McCain is all scribbled out with bright pink writing and in the lower right-hand corner is a bright pink lipstick!!
I have the poster in my private pictures, but I haven’t uploaded it to Photobucket yet.
I just love it!!!
Oh, there will be a Daily Dose this evening (after 9:30pm).
