Durham, N.C. — Duke University has fired an employee who faces federal child sex charges. Frank M. Lombard, 42, of 24 Indigo Creek Trail in Durham, was let go from his position as associate director of the Center for Health Policy at Duke, a spokesman said.

Duke Vice President for Public Affairs Michael Schoenfeld said Lombard was placed on unpaid leave at the time of his arrest June 24 and was fired Monday. Schoenfeld added that the university was cooperating with the investigation.

Lombard faces extradition to Washington, D.C., to face charges that he solicited an adult to have sex with his adopted 5-year-old child.

Officers of Washington's Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI’s Charlotte Division worked together to investigate claims against Lombard.

According to the affidavit for his arrest, an undercover officer from the Washington police identified Lombard through an Internet sting.

A search warrant filed for Lombard's house further outlines the case against him and includes a transcript of the chat between an undercover officer and "F.L."

In the chat, "F.L.” told the officer that abusing the child was "easier when he was too young to know what was happening and when he couldn't talk ...He had a little too much Benadryl. Was knocked out."

In a subsequent online chat, the warrant says, “F.L.” invited the officer to fly to Durham to have sexual contact with the child. He even suggested a hotel.

Lombard faces a federal charge of attempting to induce someone to cross state lines to engage in a sexual offense. He was being held without bond at the Durham County jail Friday. A conviction would carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison

Some additional background information:

Duke University Associate Director and Professor, 42 year old Frank McCorkle Lombard, was arrested Wednesday on June 24 after an Internet sting by the FBI. The police were tipped off by an informant that claimed to have witnessed Lombard via webcam molesting an African American boy under the age of ten. Later Lombard, a successful openly gay man, in an online chat with an undercover police officer claimed to have adopted the 5 year old child and that he specifically chose an African American boy because

"they were easier to adopt than white children" and he went further to say "that the abuse was easier when the child was too young to talk or know what was happening".

He also claimed to have drugged the child with Benadryl. He went on to offer his adopted son for sex acts to the undercover officer. At the time of the arrest two African American boys were removed from the property owned by Frank and his male partner Kenneth W. Shipp at the Eno Commons commune located at 24 Indigo Creek Trail, Durham, North Carolina 27712.

The commune was billed on its website until shortly after Lombard's arrest as a gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender friendly community and was founded and developed by Lesbian Activist and senior Durham City Attorney, Sherri Zann Rosenthal, who worked with and defended Mike Nifong as related to the Duke Lacrosse case saying "Those of us who know Mike professionally mostly think he is a decent guy,..." and that he "had a fairly progressive approach to prosecuting crime" and of the players "...they were no angels". She goes further to state in his defense in an online newsgroup:

"David Evans hired two "dancers" for the team party at his house. There was underage drinking. Neighbors on the night of the party heard team members shouting at the women about cotton picking, and other sexist and racist comments. There was the e-mail from another member of the team saying he would hire another stripper and skin her, with more vivid racist language."

No statement has been released by the commune or Ms. Rosenthal but all references to the community being gay friendly and open to all adult sexual relationships have now been removed from the commune website. Reporters making further inquiries have been kicked out. Duke University has also removed all references to Frank Lombard. A makeshift roadblock with a “no trespassing” sign and a Subaru acting as a blockade greeted visitors to Indigo Creek Trail, a private street leading into the 22-home commune, the Saturday after Lombard's arrest. Several other Duke employees also reside in this close knit commune where tasks such as repairs, baby sitting, and meals are shared.

Media sources outside the local media have largely refused to report on this new Duke rape case or the fact this case involves a gay man who was raising two African American children with his male partner. Lombard was also a prominent member of the vestry at the Liberal Episcopal church of The Advocate in Carrboro, North Carolina. The arrest affidavit lists Lombard's alleged actions, including alleged performance of oral sex with the child in front of a webcam, and sodomizing the boy with his finger and tongue. Frank Lombard faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted of the charges.

Lombard, a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree in social work, has worked at Duke since 1999 and was associate director of the university's Center for Health Policy. He was placed on unpaid administrative leave last Thursday. Kenneth W. Shipp, his partner, also works at Duke University as a clinical pharmacist involved in drug trials and has not been implicated in this crime.

They're just now getting around to firing him? Weren't the lacrosse players suspended the day the accusations were made?

I predict that on Monday, he will sue the university for wrongful termination.

Thoroughly disgusting. Every single one of the adoptions approved by the agency that allowed this perverted criminal to adopt that child should be reviewed. And the agency should be dismantled.

I noticed that the headline describes him as an “EMPLOYEE” of Duke University, like they were hiding the fact that he was a prof.

He was suspended the Thursday after. You’d think the media would’ve gotten around to covering this. The old Maryland priest rape has gotten more coverage than this.

You’d think a gay man, living in a leftist commune, having adopted and abused possibly two african american boys would have the press demanding more information. Who knew what, did anyone cover up or ignore the abuse because he was a prominent gay man? The press won’t even allow the debate to occur and the black community which is having more and more of its orphans put in the hands of deviants is silent.

This explains the Duke Faculty's accusations against the lacrosse players, doesn't it?

Perhaps they'd *seen* racist treatment of strippers by their fellow faculty members and assumed everybody did it -- then accused the lacrosse players to assuage their own guilt, eh?

Cheers!

Well, nothing abnormal about that, is there?
Think he is a “Progressive”?
Think he is a big time Democratic supporter?
Think he was a big time liberal on campus?
Who are we to judge?

Gay adoption. Wrong then. Wrong now. Wrong in the future.

This is why the queers are pressing so hard for hate-crime protection:

It will give them de facto immunity from prosecution for pedophilia.

Cheers!

I certainly have questions of how most gay men could every qualify even if one disregards their orientation. The incidence of drug use, sexual disease, and the possibility of them being abused themselves is very high among that sub culture. Also I see a lot of these adopted children getting taken to lewd, obscene, pride parades where public sex acts are going on. Do the social workers who are handing out these kids question the potential adoptees about whether they are activists and what kind of things they believe is appropriate for children. I see these little kids trotted out at these disgusting events all the time.

They are also pushing for the big Q-Questioning to encourage schools to have children ask themselves if they might be gay, transgendered etc. That is the next phase in the culture war. They want to make sure that they have a fresh supply of young meat to build their tower of deviance.

Plus, there was the whole thing about Lombard’s public “wish list” on Amazon, which the adoption investigator could have looked up in five minutes and figured out what was going on, but didn’t. I have yet to see the name of the adoption agency in print.

Where are the Revruhns Jackson and Sharpton? They should have been investigating this black Sodom and Gomorrah commune weeks ago.

Oh, wait, they're still probably investigating how they can latch on to part of Michael Jackson's will.

OF course, for homosexuals the adoption of children for the purpose of raping them isn’t viewed as a crime...it’s an indoor sport!!
