Knowing that many, many conservatives will absolutely dump on me for saying this, I can't help myself: Sarah Palin's resignation is an appalling dereliction of duty and a highly cynical move to set herself up for a presidental run for which she is manifestly unqualified.

Sarah is the first politician that I've seen in a long time with any ethics. She's putting her state above her own political ambitions right now. She's not quitting because of the heat but because all the frivolous lawsuits are costing the citizens of Alaska a great deal of money and state time. This IS a very Conservative thing to do.Those of you who have never put someone or something ahead of your own selfish needs have no understanding of this.

Let's put it in full context, Sir.
She could better have served her citizens by staying, she let them down and gave her detractors a victory.

Painful news, but in the long run good news. We need to purge the party of many, to make room for the newer members to step up to the plate.
Young Congressman Ryan for example...

She and her family have been put through Hell since that happened.

Hillyer, You're a hack and you have no imagination.
Now that I've overcome my initial shock on Palin's resignation, I think I'm going to like this...!

F U you simple-minded tool.
Sarah Palin is an actual superior human being, not a genetically designed Political Unit.
I'd back her under any circumstances, simply due to her evidenced characteristics of tenacity, honesty, and imperiousness to irrelevant commentary.

That's the problem, Ma'am. She wasn't able to due to the continual lawsuits.

I didnt say she wouldnt but it would be a huge mistake. Shes now a less than full term former Governor who quit on her state. Good luck with that! I gotta agree with you completely.
If she thinks that the derision of her by those in media will finally begin to subside, she is sadly mistaken. It will only increase from this point forward. Letterman's writers have just declared today a national holiday. Sad, but true.
From here on out, the press will make note of her attending fundraisers, political functions, making speeches, etc..
They will then say, "...well, if she can travel around the country to do these things, - why couldn't she even complete her first term in Alaska...?".
And, sadly enough, they will have a point.
What was she thinking...?
These basketball analogies just won't cut it.

Or it was the best thing.
She campaigned in Alaska to bring reform and she succeeded. She got tapped to be VP. The world slapped her face, the press took their shot, and now even the GOP.
Confidence that she can do, people like her rooting her on, and a nation that needs more like her.
If she is really going to step up and not out, then running for VP opened her eyes. Running for VP exposed the belly of the beast.

A Governor can’t serve the citizens of her state because of ethics complaints for which she was cleared? With all due respect sir, you’ll believe anything. All she had to do was go back to Alaska and complete her first term, she let us, and them, down.

If you’re spending 80% of your time dealing with continual frivolous lawsuits, what kind of time do you have for the citizens of the state? Do the math, Ma’am.

To each his own but you have to admit these are special circumstances. The geography alone is unique. Maybe she can convince you in a couple of years.

She was doing great things there and could serve as an example while proving the media and Obamabots wrong. Instead, she throws it away.
She gave her word to the voters of Alaska when they elected her to finish the job. I can't believe that Conservatives could be ok with this. Even she planned to get out of politics, she still needs to finish the job that she committed to do. She has no grounds to talk about duty and commitment ever again.

“Manifestly unqualified”? On what basis? Quin Hillyer sounds like J. Coddington Voorhees III. An effete, elitist snob.
