I just got this note from another poster and twitter on the Americans supporting Iranian liberty & those fighting for it site on Facebook.
This is pertinent right now to the situation in Iran.
Twitter Folks-set your location to Tehran and your time zone to GMT +3.30. Iranian security forces are hunting for bloggers using location/timezone searches. The more people at this location, the more of a logjam it creates for forces trying to shut Iranians' access to the internet down. Please pass the word. There are ways we can help. This is one of those ways.
We have to help protect the Freedom Fighters.
Well, they did start for real and they do have all my support and prayers.
Well done pot. I have those shots on my website.
Pray for America and Iran’s Freedom
Done, and I am glad to assist them.
Thank you!
Will someone please explain in simple terms (i.e., this is step 1; this is step 2, etc.) to antique people like me what we’re supposed to do?
1) Sign up on twitter.
2) Go to your settings and change the time to +3.30 GMT Tehran
3) Find people/groups to "follow" (ie. go to http://www.twitter.com/Jeff_Head) and click "Follow" under the pic. Start posting comments in your "What are you doing Box". That is a "tweet", you can use commands (like @username message) to post to specific people, or like (#discussionname message) to post to discussions. It gets quite addicting. Live feeds, unedited news from around the world.
4) Use common sense and be careful and it is surprising how much you learn.
And, the more you tweet under that time zone and location (+3.30 GMT Tehran) the more you will confuse the Iranian government goons and shield the Iranians trying to get the word out
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his family and about another dozen people of his close entourage have been moved to a location around the Maidan Azadi (Freedom Square, Tehran), into which numerous tanks have been placed as well as crack riot squads. The move is to provide him adequate protection in the face of the events in Iran and be close to the new airport from which he can flee the country. Thanks FARS.
I've seen a few of mine, but they seem to be coming so fast that it's hard to catch them. I'll PM you my twitter name if you want to add me.
i don’t use a cell phone - can you twitter with a digital landline? or can you use your email account say @Yahoo sending a message? I’m in the total dark about this— could someone please answer my questions? thanks
How would you like to have BOH as POTUS for the next 30 years ? Well , that’s what it’s been like & worse. We’ve not gotten to public hangings yet.
Thank you retrokitten. You are now being followed. :)
Then, see the info that's posted in this thread for what to do next. Happy tweeting (posting). If you want to PM me your name on Twitter once you sign up, I'll follow you and help you get started.
Thanks bray!
Thanks! Following you, too!
“I want to help but I dont Twitter.”
Go to www.twitter.com.
Open an account (it’s free).
In the “Settings” tab, in the “Timezone” field, set your timezone to GMT +3 Tehran (there’s a pulldown menu with the different timezones listed; you’ll see Tehran listed).
Below the “Timezone” field, you’ll see a blank field marked “Location.” Type in “Tehran.”
“Twitter”, by the way, is always a noun. To “Tweet” is the verb essentially meaning “to upload a post”. A “post” is always called a “tweet.” Tweets are always limited to no more than 140 characters (including spaces and punctuation).
That’s all there is to it. Now come join the battle.
See Jeff's instrutcional post above (iirc #246). And to "follow" Jeff click on the link http://www.twitter.com/Jeff_Head
Thank you very much Phil.
Did you get your answers? Twitter can be done online at www.twitter.com. I am no expert myself.
