Yes, youve read correctly. To all of you GOP types playing the offended card on a daily basis Prepare to have your feelings hurt, because according to my carefully calculated research Republicans need to shut up and laugh a little.
Never has the GOPs lack of funnybone been on sharper display than the last 5 months. For a party that claims to shun political correctness, weve certainly done a good job of embracing it. Over the past 150 days there have been three media-worthy politically incorrect moments related to this administration and Republicans have managed to jump on each one of them for political gain. All to no avail. Let us examine:
Exhibit A
Barack Obamas Special Olympics comment on Leno. On air, President B. Hussein Obama made a self-deprecating joke in regards to his bowling abilities. He made the implication that he was so bad at bowling that his skill level resembled that of a mentally challenged athlete. Twas a surprisingly funny, off-handed moment for a generally very unfunny president.
Republicans, however, decided to act as though they were appalled by this and ran with the you cant make fun of retards theme. (Im paraphrasing here of course, but you get the picture.) I believe that somewhere in the middle, Sarah Palin and her son Trigg were tied into the whole fiasco. The media took little notice and sharp comedians like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert managed to successfully lampoon Conservatives for being humorless old bags. Thats one for you, Democrats ...

You got it - it’s not the joke in and of itself that ticks us off so much,
but the double standard applied to conservatives vs leftists, minorities vs whites, women vs men, all the groups that the left divides us on.
When liberals would get their knickers in a twist about these sorts of things I said it was silly and it wrong. I was in good company and a very large conservative crowd when I said that again and again over the years. The principles haven't changed here but the crowd seems to have gotten smaller now that it is "our guys" playing the "I'm offended" card.
My principles haven't changed just because the tactic worked for somebody else and it appears that it might be useful now.
What happens when these two groups can't agree on how to divide the jiyza?
humor, they want hunor?
OK
How about 2 homosexuals give Letterman`s son some Viagra and rape him during the 7nth anus stretch!

BU-wa-haa-haaa !
See, I`m as funny as the bucktoothed goof.
On the other hand, the best way to defeat an enemy’s tactic is to make it apply to them.
Welcome to FR
The guy’s right. We need to yuk it up, just like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. They’re a laugh a minute, right? And their popularity numbers are sooooo good!
I’m the first to admit I am completely humourless these past few months. I’m still waiting to see what is so funny about the disinigration of our Nation...
I have a sense of humor that’s pretty good and broad to the point that it occasionally gets my posts pulled. The problem is not that I don’t have a sense of humor. The problem is that those jokes weren’t funny. They were cruel, and gratuitously so. And in both the president’s and especially Dave Letterman’s case, lazy. And it’s the type of stuff that when our guys get caught saying it gets them fired, beaten at the polls, or at the very minimum does permanent damage to their reputations. And I’m not going to lie and say otherwise in the (as far as I’m concerned, vain) hope that I or conservatives will from now on be portrayed as hail-fellows-well-met. There’s a time to laugh, and a time to give the joker a good beating. So to speak. In my opinion, this is the latter.
They simply dont understand our sense of humor because their sense of self-worth is so low they are offended by their own reflection.
Agreed. And maybe this is the root of the anger many conservatives feel, the double standard.
I heard a conservative (can't remember who) say about the liberal bias in the media, "Complaining about the liberal slant in the news is like complaining about the weather."
I don't know if that is the right response to the double standard in popular culture (news/comedy/etc) but maybe that's part of what Crowder is getting at.
I'm tired of taking it in the butt from the 'Rats and the media. If they want to play it clean, then I'm with that. If they are going to play dirty, I'm just tired of them screwing us, and it's awfully hard to keep turning the other cheek and play the gentleman while they beat our brains out. The principle here, in case it isn't obvious, is fairness. Don't apply one standard to one side and another to the other.
They know that mocking Obama would undercut the “importance” of his message.
Obama is OFF LIMITS to the Left.
“Republicans Need to Grow a Sense of Humor”
Hell they need to grow something more than a sense of humor...how about a spine and a pair of _ _ _ _ s.

I'm arguing that both sides should man up and take it with good humor if possible. Both sides should also refrain from insults. It's not a perfect world - they aren't playing by the rules but I believe we should.
I know it seems hard for me to push back on little things like this but I do so because I am worried as well. Minority parties are parties that change to acquire more votes. I don't want us changing in THAT way to acquire more votes. I didn't like it when they did it and I don't like it now that I see it starting to happen with us.
