WASHINGTON -- White House spokesman Robert Gibbs is declining to say what it cost for President Obama and his wife, Michelle, to eat dinner and take in a play in New York over the weekend.
Asked if he would outline the costs, Gibbs said Monday the Obamas would have preferred using a commercial airline shuttle to New York and back but the Secret Service would not allow such unprotected travel.

Fine. I understand the security concerns. But they could have done it on their dime, not mine.

So, The One has never heard of chartered aircraft? I am sure that the Secret Service could handle security on a chartered jet. Of course, The One was lying; he loves rollin' in "his" big ol' jet.

And the auto execs caught how much crap about flying to DC in private corporate jets?
To be lectured about going into billions of dollars worth of debt by people who have spent the US into trillions of dollars worth of debt.

Maybe they should have rented a Chevy Volt and driven up. It’s only 5 hours and they could have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express and been much smarter for it.

The major problem one of the major problems, for there are several one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them. To summarize: it is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.
And so this is the situation we find: a succession of Galactic Presidents who so much enjoy the fun and palaver of being in power that they very rarely notice that they're not.
And somewhere in the shadows behind them who?
Who can possibly rule if no one who wants to do it can be allowed to?

Wasn’t it barry who told CEO’s and Execs of bailed out banks that they couldn’t take junkets to Las Vegas on the public’s dime? I guess New York is different.
