In what could prove to be a landmark discovery, a leading paleontologist said scientists have dug up the 47 million-year-old fossil of an ancient primate whose features suggest it could be the common ancestor of all later monkeys, apes and humans.
Anthropologists have long believed that humans evolved from ancient ape-like ancestors. Some 50 million years ago, two ape-like groups walked the Earth. One is known as the tarsidae, a precursor of the tarsier, a tiny, large-eyed creature that lives in Asia. Another group is known as the adapidae, a precursor of today's lemurs in Madagascar.
Based on previously limited fossil evidence, one big debate had been whether the tarsidae or adapidae group gave rise to monkeys, apes and humans. The latest discovery bolsters the less common position that our ancient ape-like ancestor was an adapid, the believed precursor of lemurs.

That settles it. I descended from lemurs.
Don’t let G-Cube hear about this!

You should know her photo is obligatory for an article such as this.
I don’t know about these experts, but my ancestors were made in the image of God and descended from Adam.
Spiritually or physically?

Aw come on Ref. Even someone as blind as you can see it's a close call!
How gullible do they think we are? LOL
I’m going to withhold comment until they state the “completeness” of this fossil.
Seems to me that evos try to infer an awful lot from a partial tooth.
God is a bodiless spirit. The image of God you are referring to is spiritual. The Body came from a lower organism.
Yes.
So they found a pre-lemur/tarsar thing from 47 mill years ago. Even if it is an ancestor to apes, it has almost no real scientific value except as hype for funding. Anthropology is one of those fields that exists to indulge the idle curiosity of scientists. It provides virtually no useful information.
Look, the duckbill dinos layed eggs in clusters like this, or the tyranosaur had green stripes, etc., who the f-cares?
So God is a bipedal hominid? Sounds like man making God in his image to me.
Says you. He sits on a throne and projects an image.
This explains why I keep dreaming about bananas.
But.... but..... but......
There’s no such thing as a lack of transitional forms. Everytime that idea is suggested, the evo apologist say that it’s not true. So, why is this ground breaking if the fossil record is full of transitional forms????
So, here’s how it will unfold: Monkey skull heralded as missing link. Once examined, it will prove to be completely underwhelming. Eventually, evolutionists will confess that, no, this wasn’t really a transitional fossil between primitive primates and man. Huge numbers of evo apologists will continue citing this as an example of transition in the fossil record from now until the end of time.
We’re seen it before.
But, let’s assume that this is hard evidence for evolution. Ok. Now we kind of sort of have the “observe” phase of the scientific method. Now, we wait with bated breath for the “reproduce” and “predict” phases of the scientific method.
It’ll be a while......
Wrong again.
G-d has no form (at least as we think of). Read Exodus. There is a first hand account.
IMHO, the “image” is that we, like G-d, are creators.
Indeed, a human storyteller can “speak” a world into existance -— much like G-d did our world, albeit on a rather considerably lesser scale.
