A group of travellers wrecked a multi-million pound police helicopter...
...after they leapt over a 4ft wall surrounding Surrey Police force’s helipad...
After threatening staff working in the operations room, they set about wrecking the helicopter, smashing six of its windows and causing tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage.

The incident happened at 10pm yesterday after weeks of aerial surveillance on the travellers’ site, where detectives believe stolen goods have been hidden.
Officers were getting ready to raid the site after collecting evidence they had filmed from the air. A police source said last night: '...no one expected this level of violence...'
The helicopter...is expected to be out of action for another two weeks while repairs are made....

I don’t think the presence of Gypsies is anything new. But perhaps these are militant, emboldened Gypsies.

The 'travellers', who are not really Gypsies (Rom) but more akin to the Irish 'tinkers', have been around for centuries in England, causing problems of various kinds, mostly sneak-theft and confidence games but occasionally violence.
Typical here that the violence is against property rather than persons, although the travellers have always felt that the police were fair game.
As Sherlock Holmes said in "The Solitary Cyclist", these guys are "our own home-grown article."
Gypsies do steal, and that’s a fact.
Are these the same type of gypsies depicted in the film “Snatch” with Brad Pitt? The gyps in that film were a very violent group.
Not a euphemism, that’s their name (and it’s what they call themselves). See my previous post. A well recognized group of troublemakers. Henry VIII had trouble with them.

When the peasants take up arms against the government law enforcers, things are getting ugly. At some point, the Bastille will be stormed.
We have a situation where the government is bending over backward to help the criminal class. We have more and more socialism. The poor are getting more and more and are being asked to give less and less.
And apparently the poor and the criminals are getting angry about it.
To all those who are unclear who the “Gypsies” and “Travellers” being referred to in this article are. I suggest you watch the movie Snatch, starring Brad Pitt. The ones in the movie are the Travellers being referred to here.
Good on the Gypsies. The cops didn’t need their expensive toy chopper: it’s not like they enforce the law or fight real crime or anything. They probably just roar around in it, monitoring traffic and helping the squad cars issue tickets.
Gypsies have been in the UK since the Middle Ages and probably long before that. So they have a right to be upset by the way things are over there.

My understanding has been that the violence is traditionally internal or directed specifically at law enforcement. Certainly they're reputed to be more violent than the Rom, but the Rom avoid direct conflict with the gage/gorgio (that's the rest of us).

The fleece, con and steal throughout the SE US.....predominately, roofing jobs, driveway repaving, etc. They prey on the elderly and simply slap a quick coat of cheap paint on the roof, driveway and charge exhorbintant rates.
They go by the name, the “Travelers” which is what LEO’s call them as well.
Google it I'm sure you will find out quite a bit more...
They are criminals and needed to be watched as their behavior has shown.
In the US the Travelers are largely of Irish descent.
