My understanding has been that the violence is traditionally internal or directed specifically at law enforcement. Certainly they're reputed to be more violent than the Rom, but the Rom avoid direct conflict with the gage/gorgio (that's the rest of us).

A better spelling is "gadje". BTW, in this area I seem to look very much like their lead attorney. All Gypsy groups have lawyers ~ usually non-Gypsies who have an interest in them.
