They were abating a public nuisance in the only way they could. City Hall does that every weekend when it confiscates and destroys stereos that are played too loud. Or would you like the Police to roar around your neighborhood at low altitude in a noisy helicopter anytime they pleased, just in case one of your neighbors had committed an unspecified crime?

As a taxpayer I’d be furious. At the Police. They bought an expensive toy needlessly for the purposes of harassing the Gypsies and helping with traffic fines. They need their budgets cut back severely, and they need their helicopter put on e-Bay, Sarah-Palin-style. They don’t need it, and they’ve misused it.
